So far, this is my favorite park in Vegas. I like everything about it. Well, almost. Everything except for the traffic noise - which is nearly everywhere in vegas.
This park is clean, green, friendly, stress free, and kids abound with laughter. I like the people who frequent this park, too. The men who come early in the morning, at lunch and in the evening, just to sit - this friendly category is at every park. The homeless who sleep in their cars, shower at the gym, and eat every meal out, they're here, too - no one bothers them as they bother no one. There are a few homeless who have made hobbit homes under the benches, but they keep the area clean and make full use of the grills. These grills, btw, are designed to burn wood in one side, then move the wood coals from the wood burning side over to the grilling side.
Yes, there are a few bad seeds, some unattended destructive kids, and drug activity. But they don't bother unwilling folks. Even the cops who patrol and the park staff who clean are peaceful, friendly, and on the job to serve the community.
I know of no other park and splash pad that allows adults in the water and one where the people are okay with it. Why would it not be okay?
The bathroom is actually cleaned and hosed out every morning. I wish the park sign could get a good scrub, but other than that, the park is always clean. (In the other parks, they stopped cleaning the picnic areas and bathrooms to deter the homeless. They still have 3-5 janitorial employees hanging out all day, they just don't have to do anything now.)
This is the last of the parks with an abundance of drinking fountains and trash cans. That all work! And get cleaned! With enough water pressure to get a drink! Have you noticed how the city got rid of trash cans? That does what? Deters people from conveniently throwing away their trash???
Everything you could want in a small neighborhood park, plus...
Read moreThis park is a damn disgrace last year on the Fourth of July yes Independence Day my friend was sitting with her kid and grandbabies when out of nowhere she felt a sharp pain then a loud boom hit the top of her head. Blood started streaming down her face as she panicked and started screaming for her daughter and someone to help and call 911. Once the ambulance arrived and she was transported to the hospital after having to stay overnight till the doctor flew in there was a bullet fragment that had to be removed from the top of her skull maybe a half in to an inch deep into her skull not penetrating through her skull but almost and if so she wouldn’t be here today. Therefore some numb brain the close proximity to the park or even in the park was shooting their gun or rifle into the air at an angle which caused this accident. It’s called celebratory gunfire which has caused death her in the US and especially in Puerto Rico where the number of deaths is much higher. Siegfried and Roy pard should be ashamed they didn’t even reach out to this young lady not anything now she’s hearing loud bangs in her sleep and scared to visit that park ever again. I even made a go-fund me for her and not one damn red cent was donated I guess if she died it would be different huh. So yea this park is a damn disgrace and the homelessness there makes it just a bad. Now it’s time to air this park out and plaster this all over the internet and news...
Read moreUsed to be a very nice park, now it's kinda ok but... I will just express this beforehand...if you leave trash around, or disrespectfully impede what families or other humans are trying to enjoy by "doing you", you are not just homeless, you are a bum!!! Plenty of homeless people have respect to family attractions and such, even I have been homeless in my life once when times got rough for me...there is a big difference!!! When we pull up with our families (this morning and others) we should be able to use the picnic/BBQ area freely instead of the bums using it for a campsite. This is one of the only parks left on this side of town that is not (completely) destroyed by bums and drug addicts (which 60%ish are both) and hopefully the city will fight to get things to a point of resolve to this. We are currently researching and looking for a better park without bums (disrespectful vagrants) so we can enjoy a safe, clean, respected park. If they are homeless and need to use the facilities or crash out for the night...cudos!! Just do it respectfully without hindering or inconvenience to others!!! But as a taxpayer whom pays premium taxes as many of us do to provide such family activity luxuries and the jobs attached thereof, I am extremely disappointed and disgusted with the city...
