Unfortunately I do not remember the employeeâs name but I had visited this location with my friend about a month ago. I had pointed out to her that a loose setting powder was spilled on the display shelf and that it looked like a little kid had probably been playing around with it since this was the time with the âSephora kidsâ issue. I was then approached by an employee who had come off very aggressive and had accused me of destroying the tester. I was taken back and just explained as calmly as I could that I had not done that and I had found it like that. She had then gone on to lecture me about how âit was wrongâ. She then called another employee to come clean up the spill and had walked away with an attitude. I had told my friend who saw the encounter and agreed that the employee was very aggressive and rude and had a very clear attitude problem. I am not one to complain as I do work in retail and deal with the public very often, but I know how to approach people and I know that this employee was in the wrong for immediately coming at me. I had explained to the other employee who was cleaning up the mess how the other employee was being aggressive and very rude. My mother raised me to never touch things in a store when I was younger, as I got older I obviously was more responsible and trusted to pick up items. I was also always taught to be respectful and if I did damage an item it would be my responsibility. I would never purposely destroy an item and leave it for someone to clean up. I do believe that maybe said employee should have more training or explained that it is wrong to just come up to a customer acting aggressive, rude, and with an attitude. It is no way to act in retail and completely wrong. Compliments to the other employee who was cleaning up the mess and was very understanding and was very nice who apologized for the way I...
Read moreI came in to recommend a few perfumes to my best friend, and even though the store was packed, we couldnât help but notice we were being closely watched by multiple employees in the perfume section. It honestly felt like we were being followed, which was incredibly uncomfortable especially since the perfumes are literally secured to the wall. At one point, an employee was standing so close behind me that I had to step back and nearly bumped into her.
There was a blonde employee who I believe was the manager just gawking at us the entire time, and not once did she or anyone else interact with us or offer help. Iâve worked in retail and understand keeping a visual on the floor, but to single us out while we were simply discussing perfumes felt inappropriate and targeted. It was an upsetting experience, especially on what was supposed to be a fun girls day off.
I genuinely believe the staff here could benefit from discrimination training. My best friend and I even found ourselves wondering if they targeted us because we look young. And while I understand that teens may sometimes shoplift, weâre both turning 30 this year. It rare when we get IDâd but it happens, so we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but that doesnât excuse how we were made to feel. Itâs really upsetting that we had to go through this while simply trying to enjoy our day and pick out a new fragrance. Iâd hate for any other customer to be made to feel this way.
I will never step foot in this Sephora again. I shouldâve stuck to my favorite location in Clifton on Allwood Road their staff is professional, respectful, and knows how to be attentive without making anyone feel uncomfortable. The contrast between the two stores is...

Iâve been to this Sephora in garden state plaza 2 times. And I have wasted quite a big amount of money in cosmetics believe it or not!
My first time, was quite not a good one. I asked the ladies that work in Sephora to help me, find my tone for a dior foundation, the lady she had an attitude wasnât smiling, wasnât in a good mood. I asked her are you sure this is my shade because the lights there can be deceiving and she said, â YESâ like she was accenting the yes to me like if she was annoyed. And i bought other stuff and the foundation. I find it funny how the ones that are in the cashier are more friendly one lady asked me did I find everything okay I said,â not really the lady gave me attitude and then when I asked her for help she left me hanging there for a good 20 minutes and yet i would see her walking around like nothingâ so for that unpleasant visit she gave me free makeup samples
The second time I went which was 3 days ago, the lady I asked her what is the best contour that you guys have right now she told me it was the fenty beauty contour stick, she shows me the sample and puts a little in my hand and expects me to know that that is the tone of contour I need for my skin tone, ( and yes i donât know what color of contour I need which is why I am writing this) because I donât know they are supposed to know the tones and what they need.
So I donât know if Iâll go back again and buy, but yes that was my...
