Shoddy workmanship, horrible customer service. Received a pair of custom stud earrings in summer 2015. By autumn 2016 one stud lost its stone, followed shortly by the other stud losing its stone in winter 2016. Brought earrings to the jeweler at Parkville Jewelers expecting an embarrassed and apologetic artisan for producing such weak work, or at the very least a quick repair and apology for the inconvenience.
My experience was quite the opposite - 2 hostile employees (maybe owners) who tried to charge me over $100 to repair THEIR work. My boyfriend, who made the original purchase, was told something about an expired warranty of which he was never made aware in the first place. The jeweler then said he would charge him for the stone only (one was lost, the other I was able to find and take with us to have repaired) but would still charge over $80. For a tiny Blue Topaz!
Boyfriend asked then asked them not to touch the earrings and to hold on to them until we would be able to come back and get them (I live in KC, he lives a few hours further south).
Fast forward to today, when I went in with my young son to pick up my earrings. Both employees/owners demanded I pay them over $80 just to get my earrings back. After explicitly being asked NOT to repair the earrings, they went ahead and messed with them anyway and demanded money: I said I'd wait while they removed the stone and I would take them home, unrepaired. They made multiple excuses why they couldn't just remove the stone while I waited and instead preferred to waste their time undoing the repair and mailing me my earrings.
What a horrible way to treat customers who have invested money into your work. We will certainly never spend another dime in this store. Do NOT waste your time and money here! Drive a few minutes south and visit one of he many REAL jewelry artists in...
Read moreMy husband wanted to do something special for our fifth anniversary last year so we brought my ring in to add a band to it. It originally came with two wedding bands but at the time of our marriage we could only afford one. Anyway, because of Troys slogan "Where imagination becomes reality" I had high hopes for adding a band that would match well with the original design. After nearly two months of waiting I was disappointed to find that the work done was not up to my expectations. Not only did the band not have matching smooth curves, the original bands have nicks and dents that weren't there before. I understand that Troy told me he couldn't match it perfectly but I honestly expected much better quality work for that price. The soldering is very obvious and tacky, the original ring got some damage to it and the worst part is that now, one year later the band he added and the original ring have started to discolor horribly. I wanted to like and support this small business but the fact of the matter is that we paid a lot more than the original second band would have cost only to have the shoddy workmanship ruin my most precious piece of jewelry. I was so devastated that I waited to write this review until the discoloration appeared because I thought that in my disappointment I might be unfair to this small business. I don't believe I am being unfair to say simply, be careful here if you are entrusting this business with your most precious piece of jewelry! Note: the original ring only discolored in the spots that Troy messed with. All other original workmanship is still holding up perfectly six years into marriage. *Pictures: top band is original, bottom is added by...
Read moreIf we could give negative numbers we would. My step daughter ordered her wedding ring and provided the stones and only needed the setting. She was promised in writing that the ring would be here and ready for the wedding. Despite multiple phone calls a week to check on the status, three days before the wedding they received a call that the ring would not be ready until 5 days after the wedding due to a casting problem.
I called the jeweler and he was rude and dismissive stating it was not his fault. I asked for the name or number of the casting company and asked who the cast was under (the bride’s name or the jeweler.) He stated his account information was none of my business and he is correct. I reiterated that I did not want his information, but simply the place where the casting was being done. He gave me a website. I asked what reparations they would be making because they wanted the ring for special pictures and now they had no ring. They were provided a loaner ring but were given only three hideous options to choose from. He said he would not think about reparations until he saw the ring.
I would never use this place they do not keep their word or promise and are rude and dismissive. The bride is in tears over the ugly loaner rings and her missing ring. The jeweler does not care.
This is right off their website: “No jeweler takes better care of its customers than Parkville Jewelers, the Northland’s premier jeweler. The only thing that exceeds the quality of our jewelry and gifts are the great services we...
