Golden Mango Supermarkets — Attraction in Paterson

You can find many cultural items that big stores don’t carry but they are a bit expensive. I have been frequenting the store for the past 5 years and I have noticed that the meat is low quality for the prices but most importantly their customer service stinks. From the workers all the way up to management. The men in the meat department are so rude and for no reason. As a Spanish woman I can see why many blk ppl feel uncomfortable when they are in there. Today I witnessed the young short Spanish (Mexican) guy not only getting confrontational wit a lady but he also disrespected her in a language that she didn’t understand. I found it to be totally uncalled for and further more I felt bad for the lady. No one should ever be insulted because of their color of skin. When brought up to management they said they would talk to him and handle the situation but sadly they never moved from the customer...

This supermarket is something else, mostly everything they sell is close or AT expiration. If it’s on sale then it expires at the end of the month maybe even the day off. The meat is always spoiled and smells/taste bad. The veggies are half rotten and by the time you get home they are rancid. You get followed around by employees if you’re of a certain complexion. They “close” 7:00PM but as early as 6:15 they don’t allow anyone else in. I’ve seen employees buy items from a store across the street on sale (clean out the shelf) and put it up in this supermarket for triple the price. Almost everything is overpriced compared to other supermarkets. The employees/ cashiers are rude, disrespectful and the male employees are cheeky ESPECIALLY a guy named RAFAEL Unfortunately it’s the only supermarket near by in this area, I honestly believe it’s the ONLY reason it’s still in business. The meat department ONLY cater to Hispanic customers! My sister patiently waited on line and was repeatedly passed for Hispanic customers . They kept saying one min, one min and literally started helping Hispanic woman instead of her who just came from a different area. How could you have equality when people are so biased? they should have a better system to organize the meat department so you pick a ticket or you do something else to where people get served properly!
