I attended a birthday party at this location for my niece. Upon arrival, i was in awe of the space and how fitting it was for a young child's birthday party.
While the party was going on the Owner seemed a bit agitated and looked a bit annoyed. She began cleaning up while the party was going on and did not interact with any one there. I do not know why she was so bothered (as it showed), maybe because there was a lot of people or maybe because all the people for this party was black. Either way, it was uncomfortable to watch and made it very uncomfortable to be there.
Upon arrival she was a bit friendly, but throughout the party she became very distant and unapproachable. I did notice she kept interrupting my nieces parents with items which did not allow them to fully enjoy the party nor the space.
She had a staff member there, who was very friendly and very helpful when asked.
I personally did not feel welcomed and I do not desire to go back. I would never recommend this place for a child's event or birthday party.
RESPONSE TO THE OWNER: I do not know how to respond under the owners response but i felt there needed to be a response, as the response she has provided is inaccurate. You have mentioned capacity - as a construction engineer, the capacity of your building is NOT only 50 people. You space can accommodate approx 150+ per the size and ways for egress in your building. So as there may have been a conversation regarding the amount of people you would have liked it does not have to do with the sustainability of the structure, etc. It was your personal preference to max at 50 which is understandable. But lets be clear, the photos that you share for advertising clearly show more than 50 people throughout your space. So I stand by my initial observation, which is you were uncomfortable with the race of people inhabiting your space. You mentioned you began cleaning up at 6:00, as the party ran over. This is also inaccurate, as I watched you just as you watched us. You began cleaning at 4:30 pm in the children's room, while the children were still playing. The party began at 4:00 pm. Lets also be clear the party itself did not run over. We stayed and assisted in the clean up of your space in order to limit the amount of cleaning you and your staff member would have to do. In regards to speaking with the parents throughout the party to ensure the party is running smoothly, may be what you usually do but NOT in this case. You repeatedly counted to amount of people and went as far as speaking of money with my sister in front of her guest. Not only did you do this, which is unprofessional, to say the least, you also interrupted her several times regarding items you discussed prior to the day of the party.
So unfortunately, I do not feel comfortable in your space and I will not take you up on your offer to redeem yourself. As, you made me feel uncomfortable for reasons unwarranted and I will not allow you or your establishment the opportunity to do that again.
You had an expectation of how you and your space should have been treated and you did not extend that same respect...
