I really didn't have a good experience here. my mother is a hair stylist and has been a hair stylist for over 30 years and I have always known I have fine hair that tangles easily. with patience and care you can detangle my hair pretty easily. however in the salon the woman who was handling my hair told me my hair was thick and charged me more for it. she asked me if I hadn't washed my hair in a while, I had actually washed it a few days prior and left it in a low bun. the shampooing blowout and trim I requested was honestly uncomfortable, she had a hard time detangling my hair and really drag the comb from root to tip without detangling the ends first causing my hair to snap off and as it stands now I have shorts pieces at the top of my head from where she detangled. she had a hard time understanding that I wanted to use a low heat blow dry and it was honestly pretty standoffish during the entire interaction. I don't feel comfortable going back and do not recommend others to go to this salon unless they are more clear than I am as I am a shy individual who although clearly stated what I wanted did not push back as often as I should have. because I have a hard time being blatantly outraged I stayed but I really should have left when she started detangling my hair and when she used regular conditioner as deep conditioner and charged me...

This was my first time at Ashanti’s And it was a nice experience. Tony listened to my concerns about my hair and then went to work. Together, we decided that my hair, which is fine and thinning out Should be handled carefully and without any heat or chemicals. He washed and trimmed all my ends and gave me two strand twist all over my head And write it the ends so they would curl. He did all of this without adding any hair in, which is wonderful because my scalp can breathe and it feels soft and what he did is proof that they don’t have to kill your scalp and make you be in such pain. With the style, Why my hair is very soft and thin, so you see a lot of scout, but it looks very neat the way he parted and twisted it.I can wear it up with a bun or a ponytail if I’d like. Or just wear The individual twists loose. In a few days, I’ll probably un-twist it to see how full and wavy it is. In the meantime, I will enjoy it like it is and will be able to continue with my normal activities like going to the gym To get a good workout. In a few weeks, I’ll see how well my hair does in the pool. So for now, I want to say thank you to Tony for making me feel comfortable...

Being in Philly the past 6 years, I always struggled to find a salon. I just happened to do another search last fall and saw Asanti just moved to their new location on 27th&Girard - luckily not too far from my apartment. Decided to check them and glad I did! Veronica does my hair and always has me looking great when I leave. Plus, they are really focused on making sure you have healthy hair and helping you achieve the style you want in the best way. And they are great with getting you in&out on good time...I've been there a few times already and just went there last week for the first time since the pandemic/Covid started. They have everything safe, clean, everyone wearing masks, they only had like me & one other person getting our hair done - I felt very safe. I've had a two strand twist style done and press&curls, but plan to try a weave for my next appointment.

Overall, great shop and great stylists....
