I was a regular here (even after a quality decline - Spotburger peaked in 2014) until I had an unpleasant experience with the owner, Josh. After a third party mix up, Josh decided it would be best to give me a call and ask what was going on with a bit more attitude than necessary. I explained what had happened, apologized for the wasted food, and had even apologized for the third party's mix up. Josh continued to press me for an explanation however, and the conversation turned even more unprofessional. I told him to cancel the order and hung up the phone.
I can understand frustration when food goes to waste and a business subsequently loses money. What I cannot understand is calling up a customer only to berate them for something out of their control. As for the wasted food - look around Josh. I realize that you are inconsiderate, but I know you aren't blind. There are plenty of homeless people in this city who would love a burger, even if a bit cold.
Spotburger is a middle of the pack burger joint in a major city in America. It's a dime a dozen. What tips the scales to make it a place to avoid is the unprofessional...
Read more@toojeff and I went to have burgers and fries at @spotburgers over in North Philadelphia on 28th & Girard . Chef Josh Kim serves one of the finest burgers I’ve had. Jeff and I both decided to try the Rodeo Burger which has ranch dressing, a mild bbq sauce , bacon and of course the beef that is ground on the premises . Each bite features fierce flavor and juiciness beyond compare which means a strong bun is needed. The roll is specially made for them by @conshybakery Conshohocken Bakery . It’s a hearty potato bread , Italian Roll Hybrid meaning you get that powerful potato bread taste with the sturdiness of the Italian Roll !!! If you like heat the Rodeo Burger does come with Jalapeños I didn’t choose that option . Now they have Vegan options . The cheesesteak according to @phillymag is one of the best in the city and I witnessed them throwing slabs of Real Rib Eye Steak on the grill .They also have a signature sandwich called the Jawn that I shall review at a future date . How can you resist eating a sandwich called the Jawn . I also ate some Bassets ice cream. Chocolate , butter...
Read moreWhen I dine out, I like to get something that I can't readily make at home. I can't tell you how many times I order a burger at a restaurant, pub or burger joint and have been disappointed. I make a damn good burger myself so when I go out, I want Mexican, middle eastern or Indian.
Well, I think Spot Burger has met the expectations. Their burgers are well proportioned in size yet did not fall apart into a mess of loose meat and condiment. Without going any further, that's an accomplishment.
I went with three other friends. Each of us ordered a different burger; they have many to offer. We all raved about our selection. All of us resisted ordering the classic burger. I'd like to go back to try them all.
We split three orders of fries. One order might have sufficed as the portion of fries are so generous. They were thinly sliced and lightly salted.
For a guy whole likes more exotic food, I found a venue here for burgers. As a guy who appreciates a well-made classic burger, Spot has surpassed my expectations. Highly recommended and worth the extra few bucks for a truly...
