This school is HORRIBLE! Do NOT come here! I had SO many issues during my one and (thankfully) only semester there. If you want proper financial aid, you have to hassle them to give it to you, otherwise they just push loans. Also, if you submit a financial aid re-evalutation, you need to keep contacting them to make sure they ACTUALLY DO IT! I didn't do this and I didn't find out if they were going to give me enough money until the day before payments were due because they forgot about it. They also don't care for the dorms properly. The paint job is horrible for an art school and I didn't have a properly working shower for half the semester. They only fixed it because I pointed out my suitemate had a mold allergy and could DIE if they didn't fix it. The girls at this school are also incredibly nasty and radical. I got harassed for having a boyfriend and not being LGBT! If you're not LGBT, you're going to struggle to fit in. The school is just incredibly irresponsible. I'm still having issues with them even after I dropped out. For example, I never got my 1098-T form and I got an email that I wasn't the only one with this issue. Apparently some students were receiving other student's forms, WHICH CONTAIN SENSITIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION! Also, they charge way more than just tuition. On top of the $400 for the art kit, professors can make you spend up to $50 in additional supplies in foundation classes and all other classes have NO CAPS!!!! I could go on and on about why you want to avoid this college, but please just AVOID...
Read moreAs a mother/daughter writing this we can share some knowledge we learned after 4 years (please don't waste your money) that some of the teachers, we knew more about their personal lives, children , husbands... Which children are there to LEARN , not about you. This is a Professional atmosphere. OUR KIDS ARE HERE TO LEARN THEIR DESIGN AREA! Not your life! And some of the teachers were very unpredictable and unprofessional. English should be spoken language in ALL classes . Unless all students speak another language. In the Fashion Design not everything was covered because it wasn't either in the syllabus, there was no teacher to teach it or no time to learn it. Tech packs,CAD program,Grading and Tailoring were some of the areas NOT covered which is IMPORTANT for a child to learn in the Fashion Industry today. The time was not there and everyone's skill level was different so it made it difficult to teach as some were more advanced/behind than others. If Heather Ujiie could run her own school it would be a plus as my daughter only truly learned from her. She is an amazing teacher and human being. That is the only reason this school gets a star for her. Then there was the...
Read moreThis is a business, plain and simple. I paid over $120,000 for my education, including interest. I graduated in 2010 from the undergraduate interior design program after completing 185 credits.
While I appreciated the challenges posed by the teachers—who, by the way, are notoriously underpaid—I know the reality of what this institution offers. I graduated with a 3.3 GPA, but that doesn't define the experience as a whole.
Be wary of the credit system; I had to take a summer course to graduate on time because I recognized their tactics to keep students around for another semester, which would have cost me an additional $15,000.
This school does not help you secure a job and fails to prepare you for the real world. Despite the engaging experience and great location, I had to juggle two part-time jobs while studying full-time just to manage the interest on my loans. Now, fifteen years later, I’m still burdened by that debt.
Meanwhile, they send out fancy 50-pound cardstock requesting donations without addressing their role in perpetuating the student debt crisis. This institution is a business, not a place that genuinely supports its...
