Philadelphia is fortunate to be the home of The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society! PHS provides opportunities for greening up our communities as well as providing educational experiences that help us all be better gardeners and conservators of our environment. The main exhibits had plenty of interest, walking into the dangling Orchids was exciting. But overall the main exhibits were set up in small walk threw sections. People lined up to see them,Ā once inside it felt claustrophobic, with no way out, had to wait for the people to move. It was not inviting. Best to just peak in or maybe visit during a weekday could be less crowded? WonderingĀ over to the Hamilton Horticourt, it was less crowded,Ā with room to appreciate the individual exhibits. I have attended the flower show for over 40 years, but am dismayed by the upcoming 2021 show, which will be in FDR park, in south phila., which is an hour one-way for me, and too much traveling in the heat of the summer. I thought that they would have had it in May, which is at least 10 degrees cooler and more comfortable.
Also, I thought that it might be held, if big enough, in Rittenhouse, which would have kept it in center city.
Unfortunately, because of these arrangements, for the first time, I not will be able to attend the flower show in four decades.
