Philadelphia is fortunate to be the home of The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society! PHS provides opportunities for greening up our communities as well as providing educational experiences that help us all be better gardeners and conservators of our environment. Some activities include Planting trees in neighborhoods, Pop-Up Gardens where you can enjoy drinks and food with friends, participate in plant swaps, volunteer for a plethora of events and meet like minded individuals! The yearly Philadelphia Flower Show is one of the highlights of the year in Philly! Each year a theme is explored and expressed by artisans from all over the world who show us through their gardens and exhibit a new way to see things and inspire the inner gardener in all of us! Best of all, membership to PHS is affordable with many opportunities to be part of an organization that truly works to beautify our environment and communities. (Flower show photos)

Returning in 2023 to the Convention Center for the Flower show was worrisome. It did get crowded quickly. The main exhibits had plenty of interest, walking into the dangling Orchids was exciting. But overall the main exhibits were set up in small walk threw sections. People lined up to see them,Ā  once inside it felt claustrophobic, with no way out, had to wait for the people to move. It was not inviting. Best to just peak in or maybe visit during a weekday could be less crowded? WonderingĀ  over to the Hamilton Horticourt, it was less crowded,Ā  with room to appreciate the individual exhibits. The photography class is new. šŸ‘ Price was another 😱, $45 onsite plus $2.50 for the in-"convenience"Ā  fee to print a ticket, just to enter. Best to look for discounts or purchase online. Other activities were for an additional fee. Okay to Explore!

Overall good experience with "The PA Horticultural Society" Garden Exhibition. Worth seeing and supporting. And also, there is a very responsive Administration for "The PHS" and Staffing at "The PHS" Exhibition Garden Show. The only drawback, is that over time, "The PA Horticultural Society" Garden Exhibition has become more commercial and fewer Garden displays. Obversely, there is a good push for Environmental And Local Community gardening efforts. Photos attached are from a few Exhibitions of "The PHS".

The flower show has always been a source of enjoyment for me. I have attended the flower show for over 40 years, but am dismayed by the upcoming 2021 show, which will be in FDR park, in south phila., which is an hour one-way for me, and too much traveling in the heat of the summer. I thought that they would have had it in May, which is at least 10 degrees cooler and more comfortable.

Also, I thought that it might be held, if big enough, in Rittenhouse, which would have kept it in center city.

Unfortunately, because of these arrangements, for the first time, I not will be able to attend the flower show in four decades.
