Enrolling my child in classes at Bushido Karate Academy is one of the best decisions that I have ever made. My son was struggling with confidence and I thought this would be something that could potentially help him. Never did I expect all of the benefits that came along with it. Bushido welcomed him “to the family” after his first class and not a week has gone by where it has felt like anything less. After two years the changes that I have witnessed in my child are remarkable. He is growing into a confident, strong, healthy and respectful young man. When a child attends a class at Bushido, it isn’t just martial arts that they get. They receive the benefit of positivity, motivation, team work, life lessons, anti-bullying techniques, as well as feeling like they are part of something. My child loves it so much that he even celebrated his birthday at the dojo! It was fantastic! They handled everything from set-up to clean up and all of the kids had a blast. I began training at the Bushido Karate Academy in 1988. As I young guy in his twenties, I didn't have a lot of direction in life nor much of an idea of what I wanted to do, or more important, "what I was capable of doing". At the time, Karate seemed to be something I would try for a little while, get in shape and maybe learn some self defense. Nothing previously that I had ever done for fitness had lasted more than a year, weather it was a gym membership, racquetball, cycling or some other activity. I soon learned that self defense wasn't all they taught. I found something in myself I had not been aware of. I learned self discipline, self respect, self motivation as well as the self confidence that I had never had before.

All these years later, Bushido Karate has continued to keep my interest by constantly evolving their curriculum and providing high energy classes while teaching "Realistic Street Practical" self defense! Once again, by incorporating Krav Maga into their discipline, they have re-energized me and brought new excitement to the school. We've had our kids enrolled for almost a year and a half now, and it has been an incredible experience. The staff is truly second to none, and they create such an amazing atmosphere of community and family at the dojo. They put our kids at ease when they were nervous starting out and they've made our kids feel welcome every single time they've walked through the door since.
