A great view!
This is my husband and my second time on the Monongahela Incline, but the first time for a few of our kids. Living just south of Pittsburgh, we decided to do a daycation in Pittsburgh and visit a few areas. They were so excited to be able to go on the incline! Usually in a certain grade of school, they hit the Duquesne Incline for their field trip, but never this one. It’s nice to experience a different view than the other side every now then.
We started at the top and enjoyed looking at a lot of the vintage pieces around the station before boarding. Please be advised that if it’s a hot day, it does tend to get hot inside the incline car because there is no air conditioning, but it is just an amazing ride to view going down looking at the city and also as you’re coming into the station below. Kids loved it! After visiting Station Square, we got back on and made our way back to the top. We checked out the view from Mount Washington on both the left and the right side of the station. Kids had a lot of fun!
Highly recommend!

Read moreIt’s not so much the going up or the going down. The commute isn’t much more than public transit. I havent been on a rollercoaster since my last divorce and I thank Christ that this isn’t one. It’s not the hard steel or the old old wood. It might be the view of the bridge etc. but you can get that almost anywhere. it’s not the church that’s for sale but you don’t know for how much and in any case it’s falling apart and would be a nightmare to heat in the winter. (So say the architects). It’s the kind of thing you’d see in a Polaroid in one of your parents old albums. It’s being part of a long line of Americans that do boring things together. It’s an exceptional appreciation of an ordinary place. It’s the closest thing we have to culture and i think...
