We ate at a restaurant at Station Square and thoroughly enjoyed it. Did a minimal amount of shopping/browsing. My 1/5 rating is mainly based on the horrible parking lot experience. I dropped my family & elderly father off at the restaurant and proceeded to park at the lot a short (2 blocks) away. Having never been in the lot previously I had to read the directions on their procedure. I observed other guests as I exited the pay area. It seemed simple enough. Insert the ticket you received upon entering the lot into the 'pay machine' as you leave. You must leave the lot within 10 minutes upon paying for your stay. This is where the adventure begins. Being a 'debit card 'guy, ( I hate credit cards and do not have one) I rarely carry cash and they only take cash or credit cards. Luckily I had stashed a $10 bill in my wallet. I paid and got my receipt and proceeded to my vehicle. As I approached the exit gate I sensed the car ahead having difficulty with the machine accepting their ticket. Numerous attempts were made to no avail. Giving up and thus having to back up, me and the line behind me all went in reverse. Not knowing if the car ahead had done something wrong I attempted my exit. It would not open for me either, so everyone then headed towards the other gates. They all got out but me. In all I tried 4 gates multiple times with no luck. Irritated and debating whether or not to 'crash-the-gate', I did park my car and tried to physically lift the stupid thing. I saw a 'help' button and pushed it. Not thinking it would be 'manned/womanned/other or all-of-the-above' on a Sunday afternoon I was surprised when a person answered and hit the magic button to lift the gate. By this time I was cooking both figuratively & literally as well as my hot family and father who thought I would be right back with the vehicle. I feel sorry for anyone who has age/physical restrictions as I wouldn't blame them for some parking lot...
Read moreCurrently, Station Square is under renovation. Stores are still open but some entrances might be closed to vehicular traffic. I've seen the rendering for the updated Station Square and it is going to be magnificent.
So, what's open now? Hard Rock cafe, Segways tours, Gateway Clipper River boat tours, the lovely candy and ice cream store, Melting Pot etc. The fountain is up and spraying to the timing of great music, so you can still bring the kids to get splashed by the water spraying from the fountain. Whenever the remodeling is completed I'll have to come back and revisit my review.
Want to update that Ducky Tours will no longer operate in Pittsburgh Station Square. Not sure if they will ever come back at all. Additionally, the fountain is now under renovation. So, as of 6/25/2019 the fountain at Station Square is longer working. I'll update whenever the renovation is completed and will also add pictures.
Hard Rock Cafe outdoor seating is still there, you'll be looking at the fountain construction, but at least you'll be outside. Joe Crab Shack is still open and also offers patio seating. Texas Steakhouse is also open with pato seating too. They also offer lunch on Fridays.
There is still adequate parking. The parking garage is the closest and of course will cost you the most. But there are about three other lots including one across the street kinda under the Wabash Tunnel off/on ramp. Which is basically a quick walk across the street to the heart of Station Square.
I'm excited for the updated Station Square! Especially since they are also attempting to keep the authenticity of what made Station Square Station Square.
2022: The fountain is back! Open and ready to soak everyone that dares to come close. The water jets are set to music and there us always a big...
