I got married here December 2021. The hotel itself is beautiful. The staff is a complete mess. On the final contract it was agreed that one dining room would have 4 round tables that seated 8 (32 people). The other room would have 2 long tables that would seat 20 people each COMFORTABLY. Wedding day comes, the round tables have 10 seats each and the long tables have 18 seats crammed at each table. Thankfully my bridesmaids went to bat for me and got everyone seated since my seating chart could not be followed. It's not the point that there was room for them. It was the point that I, the bride, was assured over multiple emails (which I still have) that the set up I wanted was possible. And it wasn't. My own decorations that I brought were treated disrespectfully. The morning after I came down to my cookie platters, most of them glass, haphazardly thrown into my totes. My aunt's plastic tupperware that she brought cookies in was shoved in as well and was so warped that we threw it away. Other things of ours were just thrown on the table or also haphazardly thrown in a box, no organization or respect. If I would have known that, I would have done it myself the night of my wedding. My votives were missing that morning. They found them a few days later shoved into a broom closet. The front desk was extremely unprepared and unprofessional. We booked and paid for 6 rooms for ourselves and bridal party. We were assured over email everything was noted. When we got there nothing was noted at the front desk. They made our bridal pay when my now husband and I had already. Eventually everything was refunded back to our party. But this shouldn't have been a problem in the first place when the manager and I had exchanged multiple emails about this. Our bridal suite had random paint chips and random splotches of paint that didn't match the rest of the wall. The heating vent is also above the bed. It is so loud it sounds like it's thunder storming. It also sprays dust out on to the bed and curtains under it. It was so bad that I woke up both mornings we stayed with puffy eyes and clogged nose thanks to allergies. Our package was also supposed to includes chocolate covered strawberries and champagne sent to our room after the reception which did not happen. One of the rooms our guest stayed in was so crooked they said they both could feel themselves slipping toward the end of the bed. After everything, my brother-in-law realized he lost his watch. We called the Mansion to keep an eye out for it. They called and said they found it but by the time someone could go out for it the building was closed for filming a show or movie. After that I went in to pick it up and the front desk knew nothing about it. The manager was supposed to call me back but never did. Recently I also found the event coordinator at the time, Alissa, has her own wedding coordinator side business. She posted pictures of my wedding on her business's Facebook page as if I used her personally. I did not. The best, most ironic thing is that the pictures she posted of my wedding were of the parlor. The room that did not have enough seats. Maybe she should have focused on making sure the correct amount of seats were arranged instead of taking pictures for her side business. If you have your wedding here, I recommend seeing if you can hire an outside wedding...
Read moreI am so torn about this hotel - I adore the property - it's gorgeous, historical, has been preserved thoughtfully and beautifully. I really believe the world needs more boutique hotels like this. But when you walk in and they have no record of your reservation, it's not really okay. ||After some digging, they did find our reservation, however, but it was in their old system, and thus hadn't been noticed? My confirmation email made no difference, however, as the suite I had reserved was no longer available. We were given a King room, though, which was cheaper, and was lovely. In fact, I would recommend the King room, as it was spacious and comfortable and very reasonably priced. ||Not only was the room reasonably priced, but this hotel seems to be one of the few in town that did not charge an exorbitant amount for parking. It's free and it's in their lot right outside. A great perk when staying in Pittsburgh! ||As I said, the hotel is lovely. We especially enjoyed all of the paintings throughout, many of which are available for sale. The bar area was cozy and comfortable and had live music, which was a nice and unexpected bonus. I highly recommend their version of a Manhattan! ||Before we settled down for the night, we saw a flyer in our room offering grab and go breakfasts in the morning. Items like yogurt parfaits and breakfast sandwiches whose creation and inclusion on the menu was overseen by a chef and would be offered in the pub in the morning. Perfect! We put in our order for the earliest time, between 7 and 7:15, as we wanted to get on the road early for our long drive back to South Carolina. We came down at 7:10 and things were curiously quiet. There were several people waiting and looking puzzled. We confirmed with the front desk that they had received our breakfast order, which they had. So we sat down to wait. And wait. We didn't get our boxed breakfast until 745, and it was delivered by a overwhelmed staff member nearly in tears. But, oh well, at least we had a lovely breakfast to look forward to on our trip. My sausage and cheese croissant sandwich was really egg and cheese, and was microwave-hammered to the point of being nearly inedible. My husband's yogurt parfait was a small container of Activa. Thus, I would advise future patrons to either skip the "breakfast" or make sure the hotel and or pub has resolved whatever hiccups caused these issues. ||So all in all, I could laugh off the breakfast thing, but the reservation problem really bothers me. What if we'd driven all the way from South Carolina and they were completely booked? Having to scramble at the last minute for a hotel room in Pittsburgh would not have been fun. The staff seemed vaguely indifferent and never even offered an apology. ||It is interesting to note that we've stayed a several hotels over the last few months and each has followed up with a thank you letter with links for surveys and feedback requests. It is interesting to me that the Mansions of Fifth never followed up...
Read moreWe had a wonderful stay!! I'm from Pittsburgh and drove by this place 1000 times! I had no idea it was a place to stay until recently. The mansion is gorgeous and the architecture is beautiful. The wood work in this place is mind blowing!!! It's amazing! Top grade craftsmanship went into building this place and renovating it. The night we got there, there was a party downstairs on the main floor around the main entrance. We pulled up and could hear the music. Parking gave us a bit of anxiety but it worked out. We did get a spot around back. They have valet parking. The valet driver just told us where to park so we followed that direction. he also asked us before parking if we had plans on leaving. That's important because if you want to leave and there is a party, it could take a good bit to get your car out. We didn't have an issue because we stayed in. We stayed up on the 3rd floor. This place is so big and so solid that we couldn't hear a peep coming from the party on the first floor!!! Our room was big and private. We didn't encounter anyone else on our floor the whole weekend. There were no noisy people upstairs or beside us or roaming the halls. The place is so solid that we didn't hear a peep!!! The bathroom in our room had a nice shower, TV, comfy bed. There is a staircase and stained glass window as soon as you walk in the main entrance that's breathtaking. we walked a few streets over the next day to Pamela's for breakfast which I would also recommend. We had a great stay. I think there are extras you can add on to your stay like butler service or breakfast but we didn't do that. we were just kind of left to enjoy and we loved that! The lady that checked us in and out was so nice. It was really incredible to see this place if you are a fan of architecture. Chefs kiss!! I do think it would be helpful if they had a little map or something for people that stay. Trying to figure out how to get to our room took us a few minutes because we had to check in inside the house next door, walk into the mansion, take the elevator up and figure out how to get up to 3. The lady that checked us in gave us directions that were clear but when you don't know where you are going it takes a few minutes to figure out the route. We figured out 2 ways to get up to the 3rd floor. There's probably more the place is so big. It's really an awesome place. I would say go if you want a weekend away and are from pgh. It's so much better than a hotel!!!...
