Edited: New Review Sunday, 5/19/2014 Visit Plano, Tx Location. We were a group of 2 older ladies. Room: Summer Camp. This was our 6th time at NTER (between the McKinney and Plano location) and our 24th room in total. We were disappointed in this trip overall and will explain. We chose Summer Camp.st the Plano location for our latest escape room adventure. The room itself was fun and challenging, it is not linear, so the path to the next puzzle is not clear and gets confusing at times. There is nothing really to lead you to where to look for clues, so it did feel a little random, finding and figuring out the clues. (A couple of suggestions, an erase board would be helpful and getting the flash light sooner, we spent too much time trying to see small numbers in a very dim room, which got frustrating, with older eyes). The room overall was fun, we did not escape, thats ok, we would recommend it to others. Now for the very disappointing part. There was a birthday party, which is not a big deal, several times we had been there while parties were happening. Usually, the party is not intrusive or even really noticed. However, the noise level was ridiculous. When we arrived, a bit early, the group was in their escape room, but we could hear them yelling (the clues and puzzle answers to the room they were in) all the way in the lobby. When our time came to enter our room, we began our adventure. However, the party group had now gone to the party room, which is (very unfortunately) right next to the rooms of Summer Camp. Not only sharing a thin wall, but the wall for the room does not seem to extend to the ceiling, so the noise level (which had not decresed) was so loud in the escape room we were in, that we could not hear eachother when trying to work the puzzles. A few times, one person needs to be in the first room and the other in a separate room to solve the clues, this was near impossible with the noise from the party. We had to keep walking to each other to hear. It wasted time, truthfully and was very overwhelming. Again, there is a party almost each time we've gone, this time it was over the top loud. We did mention this to the gamehost, but I dont think they understood what we were trying to get across. (Honestly, a host should have asked them to tone it down a bit, it was playground level noise, and they had not rented the whole facility). The gamemasters were good, giving us hints along the way without revealing too much. But, the total experience was not really fun and left us feeling quite disappointed in this latest visit. 5/19/2024. *our previous visits have all been so fun, we were surprised by the outcome...
Read moreOur recent visit to North Texas Escape Rooms was nothing short of exhilarating! We tackled the hero-themed room, and from start to finish, it was an immersive, high-stakes adventure.
The premise of the room was engaging right from the start. Dr. Beel, along with his evil minions, had stolen the Key to Empire City, with plans to build a mind-control machine and take over the city. To make matters worse, he had captured Captain X, leaving it up to us, the X League, to save the day. With only sixty minutes on the clock, the pressure was on!
Our Game Master, Anastasia, was fantastic. Not only did they set the tone perfectly, but they also added just the right amount of tongue-in-cheek humor to keep the experience fun and lighthearted. Their playful approach made the entire adventure more enjoyable and kept us engaged, even when the puzzles were challenging.
Anastasia’s guidance was spot-on. They knew exactly when to step in with helpful hints, especially when we were struggling, which was something we had discussed during the game debrief. Their hints were just enough to nudge us in the right direction without giving away too much, allowing us to still feel the thrill of discovery and problem-solving.
The room itself was well-designed, with intricate puzzles that required teamwork, quick thinking, and creativity. There were plenty of locks to open, each one tied to a different puzzle that kept us on our toes. Each clue we uncovered brought us closer to disabling Dr. Beel’s mind-control machine and reclaiming the Key to the city. The final puzzle, a challenging set of button presses, was particularly fun to decipher, testing our patience and teamwork. We managed to solve it with about 15 minutes to spare, which added to our sense of accomplishment.
In the end, we successfully saved Empire City! The adrenaline rush and the satisfaction of completing the mission were the perfect rewards for our efforts.
Overall, our experience at North Texas Escape Rooms was outstanding, and Anastasia’s excellent game mastering played a huge part in that. If you’re looking for an exciting, team-building adventure, I highly recommend giving the hero-themed room a try. You’ll leave feeling like you’ve truly...
Read moreI got the party package that includes pizza, drinks, plates, forks, table cover and balloons. I didn’t see any balloons. I had to ask for the drinks and party supplies to be brought out while the kids were about to eat. I ended up using my own party plates because nothing was brought out. It felt like they were hoping I would forget about the stuff that were supposed to be included in the already expensive fees. The pizza was late because it wasn’t ordered until we have been there for 20 mins. When we were supposed to eat before the escape room activity. To be nice, I’m only taking off one star for this. I can see that the party room is not a priority.
The place stunk like something died in there. I can still smell it even though it’s been a whole day since we were there and I’ve washed all the clothes we wore. It’s like a nightmare that I can’t forget. I mentioned the smell to a crew member and she murmured something about air freshener not being on or something. But nothing was done about the smell. One less star for this.
At least the Prison Break escape activity was a lot of fun and the girls enjoyed it. The game host was kind enough to give us 5 extra minutes. I appreciated that.
Obviously, the escape rooms are their thing and not the party room. But for the extra charge, I was hoping that it would be organized and the supplies would be ready for us without me having to ask. And the bad smell was overwhelming. I really should have visited the place first before booking. But one shouldn’t have to. I would think a place in Plano would have some standards and should...
