Great pub food! Fish and chips, steak frites, Monte Cristo, Cobb salad, and even Shepards pie is delicious! Best french onion soup I've had anywhere, very deep rich flavor, you won't find a better french onion soup in dfw for the price!!
I was disappointed they didn't have the 903 Brewers carbomb stout on tap anymore. I wish the burger options were more relatable, or that a build your own option was presented. Everytime I look through them, they never sound good. Or some combination for sides, so you could have half fries, half green beans to help cut through some of the heavier meals.
My favorite pub in dfw, hands down!
EDIT: 2 years later, I am back getting the Steak Frites, which is the same meal I reviewed here above and has a picture. The fries were far too crispy, pungent, and tangy. So much so that I tasted absolutely NO potato, which is a problem for me. I love potatoes in many forms, and I cook them often several times a week. I prefer a light to mild crispy exterior without the starch being overcooked internally. This is important for texture, so you don't get an over fluffy, dense, starchy texture.
Anyway, the steak was pretty good, but a bit too tough (needed to be marinated or tenderized more) and was pretty bland. I asked for medium, and it was cooked well on par! The herb butter was also over the top for me. It took away too much from the flavor of the meat. I like to taste my steak, not overwhelmed with flavor from butter or sauce.
Overall, I will probably be back, but unfortunately, I won't order the Steak Frites again. I can't in good conscience recommend it anymore either. I would guess this is NOT the same chef, and after eating, I can't help but feel this was not worth the price at all!! Steak Frites is $22 right now. Get the fish and chips, or a monte cristo.
NOTE: The newer Steak Frites has a light green ball of...
Read moreShort version: Absolutely loved this place. Delicious and varied food, offered with suggested beer pairings and knowledgeable staff. Excellent seasonal beer selection with many taps and bottles on hand.
Long version: When we walked in, I was a little surprised how cozy and busy the establishment was, being such a stark contrast from the strip mall exterior. My girlfriend and I found our seats (it's seat yourself style) between two couples who were very friendly and happened to be from the same part of the country as us. During peak hours, expect to sit at the same table as strangers (like we did).
Our waiter arrived very promptly, my companion hadn't even had the chance to choose a beverage so she went with the Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA they had on tap, while I opted for the Left Hand Milk Stout. Expect to pay about $1 per %1 ABV on beers (that's all we had) for example, a 5.6% ABV beer was $5 and a 7.2% ABV was $7. When our drinks arrived we found they were well poured, however I would've appreciated it if my stout had been served in a tulip glass as opposed to a shaker pint.
We ordered the Habanero deviled eggs as our appetizer, despite strong recommendations from one of the couples we met to get the Gravy Fries. The deviled eggs were good, but definitely had a smokey taste! They'll leave your mouth a little hot (my girlfriend said her IPA made them spicier) unless you loveeee spicy food. I ordered the house burger with Porter Cheddar cheese and it was absolutely delicious. The fries which accompanied the burger were also exquisite. My girlfriend enjoyed her fish tacos and took advantage of the variety of salsas that come on the side as an option to add to the meal.
Considering how busy they were, Holy Grail was phenomenal at how quickly they turned out our food and our waiter was fast and professional as...
Read moreMy favorite go-to spot that I’ve been a patron of for years now since moving to the area. It’s been so cool to experience all different phases of my life (being single, getting married, having a baby, etc) at this pub - almost like a real life episode of Cheers!
The food is pretty good, but there are definitely some misses here and there, however I love that they keep it interesting by adding weekend and monthly specials. You want to follow them on IG to know what/when those are.
The staff is amazing. Whether it’s the same employees that have been there for years or newer seasonal hires, I’ve never had a bad experience with anyone personally. Once an employee even walked me home (I live close) when I felt unsafe after a strange interaction with another patron (this was years ago and they ultimately made him leave). I will say that if you come in when it isn’t busy and sit on the far side of the bar (furthest from the entrance) that you probably won’t get served because the staff seems to all congregate near the other side and don’t often walk around to check if anyone has sat. I’ve been missed and had to move and/or get up to request service several times (mainly when seated at the bar) so just be aware of that, but otherwise everyone is very friendly, professional, and prompt.
The drinks are great, love the wide variety! No complaints there.
Lastly, for most holidays they do these super cool, special dinners that are reservation only and usually about $55-65 or so per person. The menus are always very unique and served with a perfect drink pairing. It’s seriously my favorite experience! When I was pregnant, they even went out of their way to make specialty mocktails for me to have since I couldn’t drink alcohol which I really appreciated.
Thank you guys for being such a staple in mine and my...
