Canceled my membership: Poor customer service and a clear lack of consideration for loyal members finally pushed me to walk away. While the classes and trainers are excellent, I’ve consistently been disappointed by the negative attitude and unfriendly demeanor of a particular staff member who also happens to be a manager.
I remained loyal through it all, even during COVID. But enough is enough. The gym is overcrowded, and it’s often nearly impossible to get a machine. One of the biggest reasons I stayed was because of the Kids Club. I work two full- time jobs, and sadly, my new hours don’t work for their schedule anymore, except between 4:30 and 5:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
My 10-year-old daughter has been going to that Kids Club for years and has formed real bonds with the staff, especially Ms. Sheryl and Ms. Wilma. She loves them dearly and feels safe with them. That space has always been a highlight for her.
On a recent day, we arrived a bit early, and my plan was for her to sit quietly, within sight, and just 50 feet away until Kids Club opened. Ms. Sheryl, ever the kind and thoughtful person she is, invited my daughter in early. But then, the manager reprimanded Ms. Sheryl said it was “too early.”
My daughter was visibly embarrassed and confused. She didn't understand why she was being treated that way, especially in a place where she’s always felt welcome and at home.
It was heartbreaking to watch her be treated with such coldness. It was deeply disappointing to see how quick they were to disregard both her emotional well-being and the years of loyalty we've given as members. This was the final straw. I'm so disappointed. The YMCA has better rates and classes that she can take while I'm...
Read moreI've never wrote a review on anything but somethings just need to be looked upon. This gym is spacious but with less leg extension equipment making chaos between users at times. The restroom can use some air refreshers but most importantly the staff training for some is highly required. Please do something about the man at the front dest called Jamal. He's made me very uncomfortable by his racist remarks and just by the disgust in having to check us in.He has never helped with questions and is always too busy on his cell phone when you need to speak with him. He randomly gives certain individuals a hard time while checking in and in no position to be a manager or employee. He's very rude and whenever he works out he demands the equipment right away as a member of staff. Ive seen him give members a hard time checking in and asking for ID when they've already checked in or on a guest account. This man have been moved from the Sawgrass location and did the same thing there. I would definitely stop using this gym or use another because of his inappropriate behavior especially when you're just getting in and have to face that at the front desk or during workout.I call upon LA FITNESS to please correct this or have him removed. As a gym member the first thing when you walk in to start your workout shouldn't be having to use all your energy to deal with this or be picked upon on the way you look. It's been a long time this has been happening and now its unbearable. I'm not known for writing reviews and I consider people and the consequences of their actions but just send him to another location or remove him completely until he knows how to treat a business and...
Read moreLA Fitness in Plantation, Florida, despite undergoing a major renovation a few years ago that should have modernized the facility, unfortunately falls short in terms of maintenance and cleanliness. This location is consistently dirty, with the same dirt visible for days on end, indicating a lack of thorough cleaning by the staff. It's quite honestly filthy, to the point where I am actively looking for alternative gym options.
The culture of cleanliness among the members is also lacking. It's a rare sight to see anyone cleaning up after themselves, and this neglect contributes significantly to the untidy environment. Additionally, I almost never see staff members making rounds to spot clean or re-rack weights, which should be a basic operational standard for any fitness facility.
The disorganization extends to the weight areas where dumbbells are haphazardly scattered. Finding the right weights in their designated spots is a constant challenge, and it’s among the worst disarray I’ve encountered in any gym. This not only makes workouts less efficient but also poses a safety risk.
Moreover, the locker room is in a disappointing state with a leaking ceiling and a noticeable lack of essentials like paper towel dispensers. Such conditions are not only inconvenient but also detract from the overall experience of visiting the gym.
Given these conditions, I would not recommend the LA Fitness in Plantation. While the gym itself might have the potential to be a top-notch facility due to its infrastructure and equipment, the poor maintenance, lack of cleanliness, and disorganized environment make it a less desirable place for...
