I am honestly shocked by all the recent 5 star reviews on here. Our first trip here was for our oldest's (who is now 12) 5th birthday which apparently was 6 months after they first opened and it was impressive and we loved every minute of our visit. Fast forward 7 years we returned with our now 7 year old and our now 12 year old and it was seriously gross. Imagine what a room with no windows would look like if it hasn't been cleaned or repaired doe 7 years and that is what you get. The most run down part was the once impressive Philadelphia sky line. The entire things was coved with such a thick layer of dust my mom my sneezes the entire time we were in that area. The legos themselves were cool but it was depressing to look at them with so much dust and dirt on them. Half the moving parts were broken and most of the lamp posts and mini figs were either askew or completely knocked over. The streets were covered with a thick layer of dust, dirt and dead bugs and the water for boat race had a nasty layer of film over it and debris floating in it. Oh and the ceiling spot lights were not even on in this area so it was extra depressing almost like they kept them off so not to highlight how rundown it was. It was truly bizarre how unkept and run down this area was. Another disappointment was that the movies broke while we were there so we didn't get to experience a significant part of what we paid for. The ride was fun-ish but again very dirty and dusty. The arm chairs throughout were faded and worn which added to the depressing vibe. Also there was almost no staff so things were just thrown all over the floor in a way that it was home when we had previously visited. There was staff on where likely required by law, there were two staff members at the ride, one at the climbing area and one with the virtual reality (which you had to pay extra for so we didn't do since we had already spent much just for admission to this gross experience) the things what were newest were better maintained Ninjago area was fine, and Lego friends seemed fine, a small stop motion area seemed okay cafeteria seemed okay as well. One other thing that was unfortunate as the large gap in the class area when we're were there there was almost.a 2 hour gap and since the movies were down that day my kids had lost interest well before the 2 hour mark so we left before we could participate in that. I am sure that gap had something to do with staffing hit was inconvenient especially in the prime time we were there which wad a weekend afternoon. All and all it was fine but dirty. I could see if someone was traveling to the area and it raining and you just needed to get out of the house it would be fine but just be prepared for it to be run down and dirty and you won't he...
Read moreLEGOland Discovery Center is, of course, for kids, but can be enjoyed by adults too. But not without having a child with you. Adults are not allowed into the venue unless accompanied by a child. They do offer the occasional AFOL (adult fan of LEGO) nights, but the are no longer monthly. Check their schedule online. Most adults will find the display of the city of Philadelphia very awesome and cool, but really seeing it once is enough. The play areas are for the kids and even on adult nights they struggle to find activities to keep adult's attention.
The amusement area is attached to a retail store as well. (And this review is really about that retail store.) They have a good selection of LEGO products and some are exclusive to LEGOland properties (although the stock levels of those are always low and/or hard to find). Like standard LEGO stores they offer the pick-a-brick wall, which is almost always empty. People have to travel to this location from miles around (50 for me) and getting there and finding a wall that is almost always half empty is disappointing to say the least. Being helped by an employee that insisted that the cups could not be filled completely (she left a quarter to half inch of open space from the top of the cup in each of my cups she helped fill when I needed bricks out of a bin on the top of the wall). The pick a brick wall is always empty.
Majority of the staff are friendly and willing to help you find the part or set that you want, but there are those few (like the one helping me) that don't appear to enjoy working with the public and make it a point of letting you know you are interrupting them and whatever else it was they were doing before you dared to ask them a question.
There are usually 3 or 4 four folks behind the counter, but they are only there for the registers. They are unable (or unwilling) to help you on the sales floor. That is someone else's job (where that person is at any given moment is usually a mystery).
You can get most of the items somewhere else, so don’t you think the exclusive items should be well stocked and maintained?
Due to COVID the build a minifigure towers are completely gone and are now replaced with completed figure packs or miscellaneous figure parts akin to mystery packs (but with the parts visible through...
Read moreIt's just 1 hour drive, from Voorhees NJ and it's my first time visit. The weather was bad so was looking for indoor place for my son to enjoy and found this inside a mall to be the perfect place. The place is small but compared to price it's OK. Do check for some coupons before purchasing there are always some offers that could benefit you. Probably for covid, they have time slots.. so better to book your entry earlier to confirm your slot. Kids will be able to spend a good 3 to 4 hours. If you have more than 1 .. it's icing in the cake. There is a 4D theater running 2 diff movies of Duration 13 mins each which was a first time experience for my son and he enjoyed it thoroughly. There are different activity areas.. the mini land which has miniatures of philly's important building was a good place for adults to spend time observing the intricacies put into the models. There is a mini cafe with some food ,snacks and water. There were few families who had brought there own snacks to munch on. The store at exit has lot of options and it's impossible for a kid to leave without purchasing.. just a heads up 🤣. There were reviews that lego pieces were not being cleaned.. which I felt was impossible.. be ready to take your chances. The bathrooms on the other hand were super clean.
I feel it's a good place for ONE time, if you stay close by can make multiple trips for your kid to enjoy in a closed play area.
Do check in the counter there seems to be some promotional offers to purchase NYC Legoland tickets at discounted price with a 30 day validity..incase you have been planing for...
