First visit here for a birthday dinner as a surprise from my husband. We were immediately greeted by the host table and seated by a friendly host. Our waiter was engaging, attentive to our needs, and helpful with suggestions. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was lively but not overly loud. We noticed several other tables were having special events or gatherings (for example, a birthday balloon at another table) so this seems like a great option for a special occasion. We certainly had an enjoyable time and will plan to return!
My husband got a wedge of cornbread and the ribs. He liked everything he had although was particularly impressed with the fries and fresh coleslaw. We are originally from Memphis so have high standards for BBQ and he said the ribs were good but not notable enough to order again. Next time he plans to try the seafood. I got the prime rib with a Brazilian limeade mocktail. The limeade was delightful and I plan to try coconut cream in my own lemonade/ limeade as well! My prime rib was also cooked perfectly and was nice and tender with a flavorful au jus. The seasonal vegetables were a roasted root vegetable medley and I particularly enjoyed the carrots and rutabaga. I also had the garlic mashed potatoes which were perfectly seasoned and creamy, and particularly yummy with a little au jus. So the prime rib will be a go-to for me in future (although I am interested to try some other things on the menu).
We were convinced to try the dessert despite the huge dinner and elected for the chocolate chip cookie sundae, which was served in a castiron pan. It reminded us of the “pizookie” we’ve had elsewhere although the cookie was less gooey, which was a bit disappointing. On the other hand the ice cream was generous, decadent, and delicious, as was the whipped cream, the caramel sauce drizzled over top, and the accompanying little sauciere of chocolate syrup. The melted ice cream over the cookie bits in particular also made for a wonderful bite in terms of both taste and texture. We couldn’t finish it although we got close - the waiter confessed that they had eaten one all by themselves before but hadn’t necessarily felt great afterwards. Will definitely...
Read moreThis is actually a minus - 0 star rating. Redstone Grill was once a great place to dine. Several years ago the atmosphere was very welcoming, diverse and comfortable. The food quality was superb. It has become simply Ghetto. I reserved a party of 10 to celebrate my beautiful mother's 78th Birthday. Let's just say it was awful. They crammed my party into a rooom right next to a party of 6. This was unacceptable since I added special notes to the reservation and called the day before to verbally confirm. I brought along cake for the entire party and was asked if I wanted it refrigerated. The server never advised me that there would be an additional $1.00 charge per guest to for bringing in my own desert!? It was incredibly hot and the general manager refused to accommodate me by at least one offering to reduce the check by a small percentage, or comping something that was ordered. She flat out told me no. She offered to add the two top table next to ours to give more room!? There was a couple sitting there enjoying their obvious date, so we didn't get the add on table until we were all half way through our meal! It was a HOT mess! Needless to say the server got a hefty tip, that she did not deserve. My mother enjoyed the salmon, so we recently went back for a late afternoon lunch for two. I spent $119 and the food was less than desirable. I ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizer, which was $23. They were dry and hard. My mother ordered sauted spinach and they brought her in uncooked spinach in a small dish!? They had to take it back and cook it?? It took almost 20 minutes for my coleslaw to be brought out to me, which was a part of my entree!? I didn't complain because I wasn't in the mood to change the positive vibes, of spending a wonderful afternoon with my Mom. but I will not be returning. In fact, I am a Black woman and I hate to say it but I noticed that on my mother's birthday and our last visit there, the majority of guest were also black. Why is it that as soon as the masses of black people inhabit an environment, they change the trajectory and make it hood. Redstone used to have an upscale feel, now it's wright along side...
Read moreThis was my second visit, the first time was great. We had a taste for appetizers and the yummy bread and shrimp, which is why we went. We waited for awhile, then when we were finally seated, we waited 20 minutes for the waitress who was actually walking back and forth, but we didn't know she was our waitress. She never said I will be right with you. When she finally took our order, we had to pull everything out of her. She didn't recommend anything or tell us what was good, nothing. Someone else brought us our food, which was okay because sometimes other people run the food. The grilled Buffalo wings were disgustingly dry and flavorless. The waitress ignored us most of our time there. She was stand-offish and unpleasant. I ate one wing and couldn't eat anymore that is how dry and nasty they were. After 20 minutes of the waitress waiting on everyone else, I finally asked the hostess for someone to come remove the wings. 15 minutes later the waitress came, with an attitude of course as if she personally made the wings. Now I must mention that the manager never came over as is customary when something is returned. I tried to nicely tell the young woman that in a service field where you work for tips, kindness is a must. I repeatedly said I didn't want to offend her, just help since I am do much older than her. She then proceeded to talk negatively to her coworkers, shaking her head and pointing. My cousin still wanted to tip her a big tip. I said we should not tip her at all. I love tipping service people who give great service, even just good service. I am in the service field and my service is outstanding because without customers, I don't have a job. I don't think people should be tipped just because they showed up to work and customers should treat the staff with respect. Just because someone is waiting on a client, that client should be kind to the staff. Anyway I will never go back there to Redstone. Why the service so bad this time? I don't know but it was dreadful. I hope the young lady grows from this experience and realize that the person she went to trying to make me look bad will use that very conversation...
