I am so very happy and impressed with the current measures that Plymouth Library and the Hennepin County Libraries are doing to keep their visitors and employees safe and healthy during the COVID pandemic. This really is one of my very favorite places in the whole world, and it means a lot to me that I can return to the library and not feel at risk. Check their website for current hours and policies; currently they are a "grab and go" location, meaning that you can pick up your held materials, and take a few minutes to look at the shelves for other things, but don't linger for hours. There's no seating open, unless you're using one of their computers. No toys or kid play areas right now, of course, and it's best to visit alone, if possible. Masks are absolutely required, must cover your mouth AND nose, and they will not permit visitors to slack on that, but are very polite when they discuss that with a patron. They have hand sanitizer at the front door and the desk, and they are counting patrons on their way in and out. I've not yet seen it busy during my last 4 weekly visits. And as a new homeschooling parent, the resources available from our public libraries are so very helpful! :) Thank you,...
Read moreThe customer service from the Hennepin County Libraries is terrible. I placed a transit request two weeks ago for a couple of books and it still hasn't arrived. I called both the library the books are coming from and the one that they're going to. Neither one could tell me what was going on and all anyone could say was "it takes at least a week for a transit request".
That disclaimer should be placed online (which is where I made the request). Now the books are in limbo somewhere and I won't have them in time to finish my paper.
If I had known it takes this long for a transit, I would have just driven to Minneapolis and picked the books up.
Two weeks for transit? What a joke! My campus library gets transits in two days! I just wish the books I had needed had been available in my canpus network.
I don't ever plan on dealing with the Hennepin County Library system again. If I need books, I'll look to Anoka County, which is where I need to go since my books are stuck in limbo with...
Read moreHennepin county library is one of the best in the country. Excellent facilities that promote reading, learning and collaboration among the community. All the libraries in HCL system are awesome. But I'm partial to to Plymouth library (my town library :) ) and say that it is the best of the best. This library system is proof that taxes can be deployed beneficially to society at large. Need more of these.
Also my sincere gratitude to all the employees, volunteers and leaders of this amazing org.
