I have been an amateur bodybuilder for over ten years. Whenever I travel, whether for work or family vacations, I love discovering the best hidden gyms where my wife and I can continue our training. I've been traveling to South Texas and South Padre Island since I was a young boy and have explored ALL the gyms in the area, on the island, and within Port Isabel.
Shoreline Barbell stands out as the best quality gym with the most knowledgeable staff. Don't waste your time or money elsewhere—Shoreline Barbell is simply the best. The gym's culture is incredibly welcoming. Every year, when I visit South Padre Island, I'm warmly greeted by the owner, Luis, and many other members, including Roy. This small gym has become my gym away from home, and I can't recommend it enough.
Speaking of the owner.....Luis is extremely kind, knowledgeable, and dedicated to his clients' success. He is an engaged owner who welcomes everyone and also helps them reach their fitness goals. In this business, your body is truly your billboard. How a trainer physically looks, tells you a lot about their knowledge level. Take one look at Luis and his physique, and you will understand you are in good hands, and I put my personal word that you are.
When I'm away from home and on vacation in South Padre Island, I trust Shoreline Barbell for my consistent gym access at a facility that's a cut above the rest. Give them a try! Ask for Luis and tell him his friend from...
Read moreAt the urging of a very good friend of mine, I signed up for personal training at Shoreline barbell club in Port Isabel. I am a 63 year old female and I have to say I went in with doubts when I went to talk with Luis. And that was all based on past experiences with Gyms and personal trainers. I’ve been disappointed over and over and over. From day one I’ve had nothing but exceptional service with training. I had shared with Luis that I needed someone to push me and I told him about my past experiences. He promised that I was going to get the best training that he had to offer and he was gonna push me The best that I could be. He has not disappointed, I’m finishing up my first month of training with him and I feel more confident stronger and encouraged for the first time in a very long time. My clothes are already feeling loose on me. I literally went from a large to a medium in activewear… The gym is set up so well and the equipment is really easy to use now that somebody is showing me how to use it! I have already recommended this gym to several of my friends and encouraged them to go and check it out. It’s family owned and operated and immediately you can tell that there is a sense of family pride there. I am very grateful that I took that step one more time. I encourage you to go by the Shoreline barbell club in Port Isabel you...
Read moreRaul, and Raul Jr run a great gym. I travel around Texas working and always find a gym to work out in. Went to all the gyms Port i and chose this one. I signed up for 3 months, no problem. THis is an iron gym with a diverse age and experience of clientele that range from beginners to serious lifters. If you are new to lifting you won't feel self conscious and if you are an expereinced lifter this is the kind of gym you desire. I worked out in the mid to late afternoons and seldom ever had to wait on a machine for 2 reasons. It wasnt busy. A lot of equipment. Plenty of racks, cables and dumbells. I like the fact it is divided into areas... A class room (zumba), leg room, cardio room, machine room and the hall for bench press work plus a couple of squat racks. Ladies, an observation. I never saw a guy approach the woman working out. No one was disrespectful. I suspect the Raul's would kick that guys butt out. If or when I return to Port...
