EDIT: Received a letter from Pam with enclosed check for the truck rental (+2 stars for Pam and Veronica). Since the store owner said in the phone and letter that she understood the problem I faced, I hope new customers might not be facing the same bad luck as I did.
I wanted to buy a new sofa and love seat, went to this shop based on the positive reviews from people. I found a leather sofa and a love seat at 2nd floor that I was willing to buy. It was listed for $2098 and they offered me for $1998. I asked the lady in the counter if they have a new sofa fresh in the package (I don't like taking the floor display items) and she said "Yeah we do have it brand new in the box". I asked them if they could deliver me, said I will be charged $85 + taxes but she told that I can bring my own truck to pick it up. The next day I picked up a u-haul truck and went to their store the lady took my card charged me $1998 gave me a receipt and asked me to pickup the item at the back of their store. The person at the loading area checked my receipt and said they do not have it in stock and they stopped ordering this item. I went to the lady at the cash counter and now I could clearly see that change in look in her face as I explained her the problem. She started acting very rude (the rudest person I've met in ages). She made some phone calls and said "We have only the floor model I will give you for $100 less". I told her again that it is not an option for me. Then she said that she cannot help me as it is not her problem. I was shocked on hearing that I came to this store driving a rental truck traveling 40 miles in the heavy rain and she say that!! She said "Take the floor model or I'll refund your money just leave, I don't worry about your truck I'm not responsible for your problems". I gave my card and she cancelled my transaction, I left without saying a word. She called me after 40 mins and said "Pam (I guess the store owner) offered you the floor model for 10% less". I said that I am not interested in floor model. All I wanted is a simple apology for wasting 4 hours of my time and loss of $84 in renting the truck, but what I got was rude behavior. I will never ever ever set foot on this shop ever again and I would never recommend it even to my foe.
At 3rd Floor I have previously bought a dining table set, this floor was managed by a lady named Veronica. She was very good and after the sale she gave me her phone number and asked me to call her if I ever face a problem with the table set she sold. I decided to buy the sofa based on this experience and that is the only reason I don't regret given a rating of at least one star else I would only give them 0.
EDIT: I found a better sofa and love seat at "The Furniture Shack" in NE Airport way for a way better price. If you wanted to be treated like a scum bag visit this store (2nd Floor), if not visit Furniture Shack the people over here are...
Read moreAt first I really liked the store, there is a large variety of options to choose from to furnish/decorate the home and the staff seemed nice. I fell in love with one of their couches and decided to buy it because the staff promised me that I could put half down and half later, I confirmed with her twice to make sure she heard me correctly. So I bought the couch and it was scheduled to be delivered. I left the store happy and wanted to share my great experience there and recommend this store to my friends.
However, that happiness did not last. I was working so I asked a friend to help me by letting the movers in, I got 5 calls and a very unfriendly voicemail. I called them back and the delivery guy very rudely demanded that I let them back into my apartment to take back the couch. I asked why, and he told me it was because I still had a balance on my account to which I explain that I had an agreement with the store that I only had to pay half and then pay the other half later. However, he didn't care and told me that someone well come back to pick up the couch.
I contacted the store to ask what was going on and the sales girl that sold me the couch told me "I thought someone downstairs would catch the mistake." I.e - She literally told me a lie so I would purchase the couch.
Instead of honoring what was promised to me before I bought the couch, I was told I either had to pay the other half over the phone or have movers come back that day to pick up the couch and have another delivery rescheduled. Which does not make any sense considering that the labor of another two trips from their three staff members, cost of gas, and milage on their delivery vehicle would cost them more than just honoring what was verbally promised.
Instead of having to take time out of my busy work day and having to continue to work with a company that is dishonest, I paid the other half.
When I called the next day to talk to the manager, she simply said "I'm sorry you had a terrible experience, that is just the way that the delivery guy is."
I am very dissatisfied with this company, considering that they have been a local business in Portland for so many years. The reason I went to shop at this company is because I like supporting local businesses. Now I well never go back again after...
Read moreWe were sold a chaise and were explicitly told by Tina that we were not buying the floor model but that we were of course buying and paying for a new warehouse item. Because we bought it at the end of the day and didnt have our truck, my boyfriend was told he could return the next morning to to pick it up if we didn’t want to pay to have it delivered. He got there alone at 9:45am Sunday and they took his load ticket and loaded up the FLOOR MODEL even though we paid explicitly for a new piece— they even left the feet on the couch, which can result in damage when moving such a piece of furniture. He gets home and I instantly call them asking what’s up and without hesitation say they can offer $50 off (but they never offered this to my boyfriend who had already paid the night before and already left the store with a floor piece they knew they loaded for a person who had purchased a new warehouse piece). I went down to the store to discuss the issue since it clearly was shady from my perspective and only was offered the $50 discount I was offered over the phone. Which not only seems a measly discount for a floor piece but also shows no respect for the dishonest loading of a used piece, discounting it only after I complained and not even the moment they realized I wasnt getting a new piece, and then wasting my time having to ultimately drive it all the way back just to return it. I felt cheated and I told the customer rep (not Tina this time) that I felt that way, but she didn’t care — she filled out my paperwork for the return while chatting about lunch with a coworker, no apology for even a “miscommunication.” If you are a pushover, I don’t recommend you shop there; they might see a nice person like my boyfriend and decide that they can just take...
