I really want to be able to give this hotels 5 star rating, and would’ve even with the issues we walked into unpin checking in. It was the attitude of Nem, and the comments she made upon checkout that made it difficult to over look. My husband and I had to make an emergency trip to SD, we always camp at the same place when we come back, and that was our plan. Upon arrive to Rapid City there was severe weather, we had been on the road for 24hr straight and decided it best to check into a hotel the first night and regroup. Jamie was the young man to help us get checked in. He was very kind and considerate of our situation, he also explained that we should decide quickly if we wanted to stay the following 2 nights as the hotel was booking quickly. Right away walking into the room we noticed it was extremely humid (we are from GA so for us to think it’s humid is saying a lot). My husband went back down to bring up more items, I started to unpack. I went for the cooler bag right away to get those items into the fridge. When I opened the cabinet I noticed the fridge was sitting in a puddle of water inside the cabinet. I decided to close everything back up and let my husband tell the front desk. I decided to see if there were any tea bags so I could make a cup of tea before continuing. I immediately saw both wrappers that contain salt/pepper, creamer, napkins etc. had been opened and used. At this point I was beginning to become a little frustrated. I decided to proceed with unpacking, I went to rinse our yeti cups we had used on the drive, this is when I noticed one of the coffee cups for the room sitting in the counter next to the microwave, it had coffee left in it. Moving on to something that had nothing to do with kitchen or food I went into the restroom to unpack the toiletries. There was something to the right of the toilet on the floor. It very much looked like feces. I cleaned it up and cleaned the area. My husband got back shortly after this, I explained everything and he decided rather than calling down he was going to go down and tell Jamie in person. Jamie apologized and entered a work order for the fridge. It was about 1130pm and after that drive and knowing we needed to be up early we thanked him and went to bed. The next evening when we had returned to the hotel we stopped by the desk on our way to ask if the fridge had been taken care of. This time at the desk it was Nem and another young man. She offered us cookies and told us the fridge had not been done, but assured us she saw the note in the computer and said it would be taken care of ASAP. We thanked them and headed up. Again upon entering the room it was humid and damp. Another long day so we went right to bed. The next morning we went down and had breakfast, my husband stopped to talk to Jamie on the way back to the room, explained we’d be gone most of the day again, it don’t mind if someone comes in to take care of the fridge. By this point the refrigerator has been sitting in a puddle of water in the cabinet for at least 3 days, possible longer (before our check in). Upon check out Jamie was not on the clock so we were helped by Nem, we thought well at least she knows everything that’s been going on so we don’t have to re-explain it to another person. Wrong!!! She actually acted like she hadn’t heard of any of this, she had the nerve to ask us why we didn’t create a work order about the fridge??? Isn’t that their job? As far as we knew an order was created the night of check in, when my husband came down to talk with Jamie about all of the issues. There are no photos of the fridge because we were told that wasn’t necessary and they’d have it fixed right away. Honestly we were at the hotel so little we just used it to lay our heads at night. The fact that we were treated the way we were about the issues that we had no control over was just ridiculous. I would absolutely recommend this hotel, even though this happened. Just make sure you document everything and stay on top of it. Good luck and...
Read moreImportant basics: Easy check in and check out. Exceptionally clean room. Plenty of free parking. Pool. Friendly staff. Breakfast available and included in the price. Hotel entrance into Marcos pizza.
Details: Couldn't log onto my rewards program, so I called the local hotel to to make to make the reservation. The gentleman on the phone was able to make the match the online price I was seeing and apply it to my account.
Check in and check out was simple. There were several rooms available, so we got to pick which floor. I asked for a room that has a good view, so was given a 3rd floor East facing room. Beautiful view of the hill. The lady asked my daughters name and added it to my signed form. ...and she remembered her name upon checkout even though she wasn't standing with me.
There are plenty of luggage racks by the East entrance (side entrance) and is right by the elevator.
After checking out and loading the luggage, a maintenence man happened t be in the area and offered to take the cart back in for me.
I had talked to one other gentleman at the desk when I thought we had lost something. He checked the back and said he'd check with housekeeping on our floor in case we dropped it in the hallway. The housekeeping staff we encountered in the hallways was also very friendly. All the ataff we met was friendly.
I had to plug in the refrigerator. I'm guessing someone before me didn't like how loud it was. I didn't find it any louder than any other in-room refrigerator, but none of them are very quiet. I prefer to have the refrigerator to not, so I put up with the noise.
I was impressed wuth how clean the room was, even in hidden areas. Like Like said, I had to plug in the fridge. In order to do that, I I had to pull out out the large furniture. It wasn't exceptionally dusty back there. It had been cleaned fairly recently.
I also travel with a power strip for the many devices we travel with. I plugged it in behind the bed table. Same thing in that it wasn't very dusty back there. ....note, the lamp didn't have a plug built in, so I had to pkug in behind the bed table. Minor inconvenience. I'm guessing the next upgrade will include lamps with plugs.
The room wasn't data in any other way. The bathroom was clean and modern. Matresses amazingly comfortable. Bedding clean and modern. Room decor modern. Drapes very dark, especially for the East morning sunrise.
The hairdryer has a built-in nightlight. It's fairly bright, but didn't bother us.
We usually have six people, but this trip only had two. He room had two queen beds, but no extra pull-out to accommodate more people. Unsure if they have rooms for six.
Shower was plenty hot.
Very large luggage rack to accommodate large suitcases.
Ironing board andcommodatejd iron.
Wall thermometer across the room from the wall unit. I like this a lot better than the units where the control is built into the unit. This way, it measures the temp across the room, not just right where the unit is. It was 88° outside and the unit kept the room sufficiently cool.
If we travel with four or fewer in the future, I can see us...
Read moreHusband and I were traveling from Ohio to Montana for our anniversary. Had been on the road for over 24 hours when I got online and started looking for a hotel near Rapid City. I was looking for a suite, so we would have a refrigerator to put our food we were traveling with and furniture other than the bed to sit on after being in the truck for so long. Fount Baymont by Wyndham advertising to "Hurry, book soon, 1 King Suite left" so after reading what all it said they had to offer and looking at the pictures and the rooms had a leather chair or a couch, I booked it. We arrived a few hours later. The online photos we not an accurate reflection of their rooms and this "Suite" was no more than a hotel room. It did have a refrigerator behind the door in the dresser/tv cabinet/microwave stand and a chair that was fabric and absolutely filthy. The room itself was not the cleanliness you would expect from a Wyndham suite. The hook for towels had been ripped off of the bathroom door, and all that remained were the holes. The plastic from mollies from a wallmounted hairdryer were still in the wall in the vanity area, the hairdryer was now in a bag hanging in a bag on a hanger. It would have been a very quick fix to remove those, spackle and paint that. The wall as you come ibto the room had been run ibto with a luggage cart so many times that chunks of drywall were missing. The paint on several walls was very dirty and scuffed, again, a quick fix. The "computer station" was a desk that was torn up. I pulled the desk chair out to sit down and there were what looked like crumbs in the chair. The bed had a dust ruffle on the boxspring and I know they cannot change those everything, but they could at least use a vaccuum attachment and sweep it, it was disgusting. And a big chunk missing from the headboard. The room was not the size of a suite, the bathroom had a very short tub and toilet only, the sink was outside of the bathroom on the opposite side of the wall. So when you walked into the room, the sink was in your right and the rest of the bathroom was on your left. None of this is fitting for a "Suite" or a suite price. We stayed because by this point, we had been on the road for 36 hours. We slept, checked out early, packed up our vehicle, and went for the continental breakfast. Our choice at that time was juice, coffee, bagels, or eggs. The nice young man working the breakfast bar apologized and said they were out of sausage. We got a bagel and drink and left. I'm including their pictures from their website representing what you should be getting and what we actually got. Can't rate their service because I checked in online, so all we did was pick up the key...
