Where do I even begin? If you looked up hospitality in the dictionary this COURTYARD location would be an exemplary definition. It's honestly annoying that anyone would downgrade a ratng just based on the fact that they don't mandate egregious mask policies. It's honestly sad and a bit pathetic that people go out of their way to spread such negativity when it can affect people's livelihood and an entire business.
Just a heads up people.. someone wearing a mask at their own choice and discretion is THEIR prerogative. However, anything negative and honestly almost slanderous towards a business because everyone doesn't feel the same is absurd and ridiculous. News Flash it's why people want to be in South Dakota so stop projecting your regurgitated propaganda on a very successful establishment and hospitality group.
FOOD And alcohol selection, variety, and quality ABOVE PAR. Favorite breakfast is egg white frittata, dinner Bistro Burger on gluten free bread arugula salad, And favorite libation is definitely the bees knees! Happy hour EVERY day 4-6. Seriously cant beat that.
ROOMS Are comfortable and spacious and designed wonderfully, decorated beautifully and very well kept CLEAN and tidy.
Convenient LOCATION by far and so much to do in the area and a quick drive downtown. And personally I like that the water park is across the parking lot and a little less foot traffic and chaos.
And lastly but certainly NOT LEAST some of the best staff at the hotel I have ever experienced in my life.
I have had to extend twice due to inclement weather conditions on my return home... They have gone above and beyond to extend my stay and make it as wonderful as possible.
On a personal note the year 2020 was one of the worst and most heartbreaking years of my life. This HOTEL was a breath of fresh air and I actually felt MUCH reprieve and renewal. I can easily say I do not want to leave. I met some of the most kindness and genuine people on this trip I've ever met in my life. Furthermore ONE OF THE BEST Marriott propertIES and I have spent many all over the country and throughout the world.
We have had the absolute pleasure to get to know so many of the team members and they seriously treat their guests like family. Kristine, Laura, Jessica, Erica, Laszo, Summer, Mary Beth, Ermin, Allie, Matlynn, Mac, ..ALL are outstanding.
So basically if you want superior service AND Good, honest, and hard working people that love our country and this state I would recommend...
Read moreVery nice property, most of the staff was extremely pleasant and professional. One bad apple, however, can ruin the experience. The Assistant General Managaer (Michaela) is very unpleasant and unprofessional. I understand that most hotels like keeping a card on file for "incidentals." The vast majority of hotels won't charge your card, but will simply verify that the card is active. Some hotels will actually charge the card. We stayed at Courtyard for five days. This hotel insisted on a new charge for "incidentals" every single day. Now two weeks later I have only received one of the charges back. My bank informs that the funds have not been released by Courtyard. Normally I would be content to wait, but the treatment by Michaela changed this.We were set to check out, but had stayed out late the night before. I woke up around 10 am and booked another night through the booking app. I called the front desk and informed them that I had booked another night and explained that I was going back to sleep and would be down to do the paperwork later. It should be noted that I paid directly through the booking app, do Courtyard was guaranteed to receive payment. Around 12 Michaela left a voice-mail (I was sleeping) saying they needed a card number for "incidentals." At 12:30 I heard a loud knock on the door. I opened the door and Michaela was there saying if I did not come down and provide a card for "incidentals" we would be kicked out of our room. No thank you for staying a week, just blatant rudeness. Anyways, now two weeks later and these shady people still haven't returned four of the charges. Maybe I should go pound on their door, demanding immediate payment, with the same energy and rudeness they showed me. In fairness, every other employee that I encountered was extremely professional and cordial. The housekeepers are very friendly and do an...
Read moreI have to start by saying that this hotel is beautiful. Extremely clean (A thank you to Katie and Kylie, whose names were on the housekeeping card. The room was immaculate!), nice amenities, and the quality of furnishings and bedding you expect from Marriott. My son and I shared a King suite, and it was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the interesting furniture, especially the storage piece for the coffee and fridge. He did have a hard time opening the fold-out bed inside the sofa. A little instruction sheet would have been helpful for people who are not frequent Courtyard guests, because it was not easy to figure out. I'm also not a fan of the half-glass showers that most hotels have now, but the water pressure was good and the water was hot. Be careful if you have balance issues, or make sure to ask for accommodations if you need them, though, because that floor in the shower is definitely not non-slip once it get soapy and wet.
The front desk staff was friendly enough, and the lobby area was very pretty, although we weren't advised of any amenities or given any information about the hotel at check-in, just a key card and directions to the elevators.
So far as location, this hotel is really convenient to I-90 but it's located down a poorly-lit access road so when you're coming in at night you need to be careful not to miss a turn. It's also located in an area with multiple other hotels and a water park, and the parking seemed like it's shared. Very busy parking lot, very long walk from the car to the hotel, and then from the door to the elevators, and then from the elevator to the room - big parking lot, big hotel. Make sure to plan ahead if you can't handle a hike...
