What a let down. We chose this restaurant to celebrate our 25 wedWhat a let down. We chose this restaurant to celebrate our 25 wedding anniversary. We made a reservation stating that fact, and requested a quiet booth or table for the 2 of us. We were seated in a booth between 2 other couples and 2 tables down from a group of 6 or so that had 2 noisy young children. We were given menus by the hostess but not greeted by anyone after that for exactly 20 minutes. At 20 minutes on the dot, the waitress of the table directly behind us, who'd obviously noticed that we'd been sitting their without any service, came to our table and asked if we'd been welcomed by our waitress yet. We told her that we hadn't, and she expressed her concern, apologized on the restaurant's behalf and filled our water glasses. She said she'd try and find who was supposed to be serving us. Approximately 10 more minutes passed and our waitress finally arrived. She gave a quick "sorry about that guys" and that was the end of it. Now mind you, the wait staff was abundant, and there were minimal tables with guests. Maybe 7 tables, so it was NOT busy! So on top of being seated in a cluster of the few tables with guests, our anniversary not acknowledged even though it was clearly stated on our reservation, and obviously being forgotten, we were still giving the benefit of the doubt. Our steaks were done perfectly. My husband's bacon wrapped asparagus was so strangely over cooked that the tops of the stalks were dry-crunchy, flat and hollow. My husband did bring that to our waitress's attention, but although not unkind, she was less than concerned. She said it's normally done perfectly. She nonchalantly asked if he needed anything else, but honestly, at this point we were just ready to go. We didn't expect a major deal about our anniversary, but seriously, it takes 2 seconds to ask the customers what they are out doing tonight, especially when it was written on the reservation. It's just polite and kind. It would've also been nice to have them acknowledge the extreme wait for service after being seated. An offer of a free appetizer, drink, or dessert can go a LONG way! Heck, taking $5 off the $107.00 bill would've been nice...anything really to show that they cared about bad service. Bottom line, the steaks were good. The beer was cold (although they forgot to put the olives that I ordered in it). The service, aside from the young girl with glasses who seated us, and the kind slightly older waitress with short hair who noticed we'd been ignored, was lack luster at best. I left a 15% tip...can't remember the last time I only left 15%. Had she given a care at all, engaged us in any small talk, or had offered to make our bad experience better, I'd have left my usual 25%. I'm not sure that we'll be back any time soon, and more than likely will not be...
Read moreMy recent visit was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in my lifetime. I ordered an aged Ribeye steak that on the menu costed $64 with a salad and mashed potatoes. Add to that mushrooms I added for $6 more to make the meal $70.
My first steak that came out was very small and rectangular, unlike any Ribeye I have ever seen. It was over cooked and ridiculously hard to cut. So I politely sent it back.
The next steak on the surface looked great until I cut it. Massive amounts of fibrous texture was laced throughout the steak. Not juicy and hard to chew. Not wanting to risk another mistake, they discounted $70 from my bill. My wife and daughter’s meals were good, but my wife’s steak was very thin and was tender but somewhat beyond the medium rare we ordered.
So what happened? In my research it appears my steak was tough due to Excessive aging time - Dry aging beyond the optimal period (typically 21-45 days) can result in a steak becoming overly dry and tough. The enzymatic breakdown goes too far, resulting in a very dense, fibrous texture. So, because of the cost of the steak, they served me two bad steaks, likely due to over-aging. This dinner was on my wife and I’s 16 year wedding anniversary and I left way more frustrated than I showed in the restaurant.
Due to this horrific meal, I went to Arby’s across the street and ordered a half-pound Beef and Cheddar to take home.
I write this to warn others NOT to order the $64 aged ribeye. You order this at your own risk. This is the second highest priced item on the menu and I will NEVER order this again. When you label yourself a steakhouse, and can’t cook or serve quality steak, this is a huge problem. This should never happen in a high scale restaurant where my meal would have cost close to $200 for a party of 3.
You should have some form of quality control that you are only serving the best steaks and the restaurant ruined my anniversary meal and experience. I settled for Arbys and that is embarrassing. Won’t be back for a while. They should have given my whole family our...
Read moreAnniversary gift from our kids. Sooo disappointed! First off,not offering coke products (his drink choice is best with coke) or Budlight tap beer. We said right away, cutbacks. Second, salad was just simple iceberg lettuce for this kind of establishment. Only appealing part of that was the swirled carrots and purple onion and 3 to 4 croutons on top. Fry bread was OK with what seemed like plain whipped butter. Third, our main meal arrived in record time. The waitress even mentioned that. Looks appealing but not hot. And neither of our meals were hot or even warm. Husband had prime rib, $39 for 12oz, with mashed potatoes, all cold. I had Honey Chipotle Salomon with side of fried Mac n' Cheese, $34, all cold. Couldn't taste Honey Chipotle on the Salomon. Mac n' Cheese processed and from a freezer with an attempt to warm up and end result was dry and very cold in center. Needless to say we sent it all back. We felt bad for the kind waitress cause it wasn't her fault. Same replacement meal presented again. Husband's prime rib is barely warm and potatoes still cold and he's eating cause he's hungry. My meal still looks cold. The thinner outer edge of the Salomon is the only part that's warm and sauce that comes with it tastes like dish soap. Fried Mac n' Cheese is kinda warn on outer edge but crust is very hard when tapped with fork. Still dry macaroni inside and cold in the center. Manager (?) stopped by table to ask how new meal was and we told her the above comments and she assured us they checked it with a thermometer because of the previous order and it was at temp. I tapped at the Mac n' Cheese to point that out to her as well. She apologized and said she would need to consider how she would comp the meal. Well we each got our free happy hour drink and paid $78.26 for our meal and gave the rest of our $100 gift card to the waitress for a tip. We of course didn't need the rest of our gift card as we won't be back! We will continue to enjoy our high end steak and other option meals at the local chain restaurant that is...
