GNC — Attraction in Redding

Edit decided to edit my review, been back in since, the incident below, the new manager named Ian, they have in place is top shelf. He really knows his stuff, extremely personable, and really educated my wife on menopause and womens health support. Really really grateful, she is also grateful. So we boost from 3 stars to 5!

Long time shopper and fitness club owner locally in Redding. The new manager is awesome. He's the best one they had in years. The whole vibe of the shop has changed and has become very consumer friendly. His staff is relateable, friendly and non judgemental. I am a little reserved from giving this the 5 star treatment, because of a male employee who introduced himself as Gerald wouldnt allow me to talk, and kept cutting me off, and suggesting products that had nothing to do with my needs. If he let me talk, I could have told him I have high blood sugar and need a non-stim product, but he kept insisting. A female employee Alysa tried to step in amd descalate recognizing my discomfort and it turned into a shouting match with the male employee who was orginally helping me tell her shes new and doesnt know what shes talking about. Great turn around in the store with management choice and nee friendly staff, however as a local business owner it will br hard to suggest in good faith to utilize GNC in the Mall because of uninformed employee who is non customer friendly.

The female employee apologized when I was checking out and she said she wpuld speak to the manager when he returned Monday, and she took my information down. She said she would ask him to call me. After our call around 5pm Monday, I was waiting to write this review to see how the situation would be resolved and my emotions didnt dictate this review on Saturday evening. The call was very professional, manager gets 5 stars, the new girl gets 5 stars, however the malr employee Gerald gets 0. I will suggest GNC to my customers for their needs, but request a different sales person if Gerald is on shift to avoid any conflict.

I'm not a big fan of reviews but I felt this business really needed one. First I want to extend my thanks to the store manager Ian. He is very approachable, he understands supplements, vitamins and overall health. I've always been reluctant to shop at GNC because of the really bad reputation they've had locally here for years.

I decided to jump in after hearing some really positive things about the store and never felt like I got the right help at the The Vitamin Shoppe, and felt like they just tired upselling a lot of items without much knowledge.

I really want to extend my thanks to Ian, he answered all my questions and asked all the right things. He took the time to get to know my eating habits, workout routines, and goals I had for myself. He set me up with supplements that would actually enhance my workouts, and work well with each other and my lifestyle.

Please go in, if you want a judgement free manager who actually cares enough to take the time to get to know you and help you map out exactly what you want. He is very honest, and doesn't give you the run around and immediately go for the most expensive stuff.

I'm feeling really great and already see the results thanks to Ian. He told me if I followed the routine and used the supplaments he suggested I would see results and I've lost 3 pounds of fat in a week, and can already see the tone and definition in my body!

Thank you again GNC and actually hiring a manager who cares about the customers! I will be sending all my peers and friends in. A judgement free zone is so rare these...

I am writing this and only giving this business a high review, because the female employee who helped me after the male employee Jareld was over abrasive with my husband and I.

I felt so embarrassed and condescended by him pulling his phone out and speaking loudly into his phone, "Does GNC carry products for breastfeeding women, and what is lactating".

He also was extremely rude to the female employee who was checking us out saying he didn't think the product she suggested was right. We will not shop at the store when he is on shift. We've had wonderful experiences in Redding since we moved here for BSSM, this is our first questionable one.

Thank you to the female employee who took over for him and gave us the right information we were seeking without judgement or embarrassment.

I will be attempting to make contact with the store manager about the conduct and experience we had, after finding out Jareld wasn't the actual manager, despite claiming to be the shift supervisor.

Please visit this business, just avoid employee Jareld if you want to have a good experience without judgement or potential embarrassment because he doesn't know what he's talking about.
