I was eager to try out this new eatery in Redding, definitely excited to find nutrition a centerpiece. My partner had the steak wrap. He was skeptical as a meat and potatoes guy, but he said it was very good. He especially liked the tortilla wrap itself. I went for the avocado toast, and this is where I have some criticism. I first enjoyed the concept of avocado toast when I visited Eugene, Or. I went to two different coffee shop/deli type restaurants and had the same item, both prepared on sourdough toast. At vitality the toast was served with a lot of extra toppings, tomatoes, seeds, cheese, all delightful, however the star of the item, the avocado was pureed to a consistent green color and a mushy consistency, very unappealing. This item requires a freshly mashed avocado to preserve the best texture and look of an avocado, and taste. Avocado's are green on the outside and yellow on the inside, when mashed with a fork they retain their appearance. In fact I made myself one for lunch today. So by way of a suggestion, Vitality might consider presenting their avocado toast with 'mashed' avocado as opposed to pureed avocado that is very...
Read moreThe steak chimichurri wrap is delicious, but the only thing I’d get from here (and I’d take it to-go next time). The door looks like the entrance to an abandoned site, which is kind of what it feels like inside. The walls aren’t finished, dirty rolled-up mats laying around, messes left on tables, and basically no employees.
When I came in, I didn’t think it was even open since I hadn’t seen anyone, but I guess they just stay in the back until the digital order gets placed and they start making food. No human interaction, but I saw them walk in with grocery bags from Sprouts. So… fresh, I guess? The VB bases are not tasty at all in the açaí bowls, I wasn’t a fan at all.
Because of how it looked inside, I imagined they had just opened, were understaffed, or a car had driven through the walls and they just repaired lol. Turns out, it’s been this way for a while in terms of service, I suppose with new ownership taking over?
Either way… I don’t recommend coming here, unfortunately. Other Vitality Bowls have had a much better atmosphere (although the VB base still wasn’t very good, now I know better) $30 for steak wrap...
Read moreThis place was great when they first opened, then the they’ve been going progressively downhill to the point where I think I have to cut them off. Their current staff is generally unhelpful and really doesn’t seem to want to interact with customers past the bare minimum, which is made worse with their new and universally hated pickup system/app that almost removes humans from the process entirely. Kinda seems like the kids there just want to get paid to stand around and talk about whatever they did last night. They advertise a gluten-safe kitchen yet everyone I know with celiac has had tons of problems with them recently. There’s no consideration at all for pickup orders, which is a nightmare when your workplace has several celiacs and everyone orders their food from the same place for the shift. I hope they get back on track because this place used to be one of my favorite places to eat, but at this point, as someone with celiac, I am safer eating something from a chain restaurant with actual cross contamination protocol than the small business that literally advertises itself as a healthy/safe...
