I kept my sail boat in this marina for a little over 2 years. My slip fees went from 425 to 875 a month during that time. When I asked the reason behind the constant price increases management responded “it’s California, prices go up and we have new management.” I think they changed management 3 times in 2 years.
They started charging us for “security”. The funny part is the gate is left unattended and is open 24-7 to enter the marina but it’s closed to exit the marina. Let that sink in.
A 30-33 foot slip in Marina del Rey and San Pedro is $450 a month. I recommend parking the vessel there. Less homeless have access to the marina there too. During the weekend King harbor turns into a public parking mess. The bathrooms look like the Venice beach public ones.
The only thing they were sharp about was counting how many nights my car was parked there a month and charge me more. Finally I left because I couldn’t take it anymore.
Took 2.5 months to get my deposit back. Shower of excuses and apologies of course.
I’m gonna attach some pictures to show you how well the marina is...
Read moreThe staff is very nice, however the marina management contract was transferred to new entity. He raised the slip fees 100% and added other fees to simply gouge the tenants. The facilities are old a run down, which is not a big deal until he raised the fees beyond reasonable, but is typical of the super rich a-holes. This is a public owned marina but run like it’s part of the local mafia now. On day one he tried to throw out all the live aboards, but thankfully was stopped by the city. However, that didn’t stop him from gouging the ones remaining, obviously a move to force them out. It’s got great location going for it, but I remember what it looked like during the economic downturn, which is coming. I loved having my boat there and did for many years until the...
Read moreYour boat better not have any wood in it. Many, perhaps most, of the tenants have termite problems now. This is because the dock and buildings are a breeding ground and the new management does nothing but paint over it (see photo). Also, under the new management, they have raised rent 3 times this past 12 months - one of the increases was a new "security fee" to provide the same security service they always have. Some of the piers are getting wobbly, the hose reels fall over, the lockers don't close - they've cut costs on maintenance and only do cosmetic work now so things are just going to get worse. It is now owned by a money-grubbing new landlord, KHM isn't owned by the City anymore. I am...
