Took the kids exploring along the river today since the water level is low. I spent many many many summers swimming here growing up as a kid. Absolutely beautiful. So beautiful in fact that my wife and I had our wedding reception inside the recreation center nearby. You have everything you need within a 3 min walk in any direction. You have Liberty Park across the street with a state of the art upgraded play toys with a skate park. You have the Henry Moses Aquatic Center. The river itself. A dog park. Cedar river trail for jogging/walking/biking. Btw cedar river trail will take you to the end of the river into the mouth of lake Washington in one direction and if you go the other it will take you clear down pass Maple Valley. So the trail goes for miles and miles. Overall great park. Lots to do and see. If I have to say anything bad it's that this part of Renton has a growing homeless population and there is a particular spot on the river in this area that attracts a lot of homeless people. Under the train trestle tracks. So...
Read moreAre the public restrooms ever going to be open again? They've been closed since covid shut down the facility. They keep placing notes that say closed due to vandalism but I don't think that's the reason. I only come here to drop my characters off at pokemon go gyms other wise this is a pretty useless dead area.
Great for kids but not so great for adults. Classes are geared towards children and unless you want to be the only 30 year old stuck in a class of elementary school children seek extra curricular activities else where. Unless you are a parent of a child.
I guess citizens can't respect public places because the park keeps having to close down public gathering places and restrooms due to high vandalism.
This park is pretty dead the bulk of the year and only active during the warmest of the...
Read moreI rescued a traumatized dog that is very reactive to other pooches so dog parks aren't an option. But I can take my boy to this portion of the park for walks and play in the water. It is very well kept, easy access in many places to the river, well stocked dog waste stations, and plenty of parking. Everyone who brings their dogs are extremely respectful and keep them on leashes. There isn't loud music, beer cans, or cigarette butts; just a chill environment with lots of grassy areas to soak up the sun or swim and kayak in the river. There is a large play area for kids that is towards one end that has a lot of area to run around or play on the equipment. It is encompassed in one part of the walk which allows those of us who don't enjoy kids to also have a relaxing time at the park...
