Wish I found this place earlier since I live nearby. It's a hole-in-wall Japanese restaurant that is simply the best in the neighbourhood! And I've been to them all, being a Japanese cuisine fan. I got higher quality food here than some of the other more expensive places.

We order the Super Deluxe Sushi, Kirkland roll and Caterpillar. I was delighted that the salmon served is Wild Alaskan and none of that farmed salmon that is bad for you.

Since I ordered the super deluxe sushi, the waiter started me with a side salad and miso soup. In the side salad, the chef paid enough attention to layer the dressing between the salad itself so you get the tasty creamy goma (sesame) dressing throughout instead of just at the top, like in so many other restaurants. The miso soup was lovely with a rich thick taste just the way I like it.

The super deluxe came with uni (sea urchin) that was really fresh, creamy, sweet... so umami! I never liked uni having tried it several times at other high-end Japanese restaurants. But I think this place has converted me to an uni-lover. Not sure if that's a good thing since uni is an expensive habit ;)

The sushi size is just perfect. I've been to so many places in which the rice portion is so big that it's overpowering the fish.

I noticed that the tempura is done just right too, with a light crunchiness that is not oily at all. The chefs definitely know what they're doing!

The service was friendly and good, and I was surprised that the waiter could manage it so well even with a full house.

Would definitely come here again (it'll likely be my new favorite japanese place in the neighborhood). Great value for proper...

So far, I have visited here several times. Each time I have ordered an entree and a roll and each time I was sufficiently satisfied with what was presented. I have tried various bentos, and various rolls, and every time I have cleaned plate. The gentleman behind the counter is very nice, has a good taste in rolls, and full of courtesy for his guests and has made me feel welcome every visit. Food quality is very high, prices fair and entirely worth every penny. The salmon teriyaki being my favourite bento box, next to the sashimi bento. The salmon was cooked perfectly, still moist and full of flavour and practically melting in my mouth with each bite. The sashimi was fresh, delicious and beautifully prepared and would recommend if you enjoy raw prepared seafood as well as a light yet very filling meal. I came in this morning with full intentions of finally trying the pork tonkotsu ramen before moving to a new apartment, and with out a doubt it full-filled and even exceeded my expectations, as it’s by far one of the best tonkotsus I’ve had so far. To the point that, as soon as I got home with my order, I took a sip of the pork bone broth and it immediately put a smile on my face. The family who owns and operates this restaurant cares about their craft, and it definitely shows.

If you’re in the area and are looking for delicious food, this is one of the places you need to go. As I will definitely plan any trips to this area again around Momoya, because they are, in my honest opinion, worth every second of your day spent waiting for the food to hit the table and...

My colleague and I were holding a training in Renton and decided sushi was the choice for lunch afterwards. There are lots of options in Bellevue and Kirkland, almost overwhelming, but we settled on Momoya based on others reviews.

I'm not sure what happened but my experience wasn't quite as "5 star" as others seemed to have :/

I ordered the Lotto roll and Miami Heater and was pretty disappointed. Both rolls lacked overall texture and the albacore/tilapia on top was basically room temperature. Not super appealing for sushi, unfortunately. My colleague ordered tataki which I tried and enjoyed, and she seemed to really like her lunch sashimi. The miso and salad that came with a lunch meal were both really tasty, we especially enjoyed the dressing on the salad.

The service was lackluster as well, seemed like maybe there were friends of the restaurant who were dining and taking up most of the attention of the one server. Water was refilled once, at the end of our meal nonetheless, and green tea never refilled once.

Personally, given all of the options are the area I probably wouldn't choose to...

There's a reason Momoya has such a high rating, and it's not because "it's good for a strip mall." It's just good! It's a small place that has dine-in and take-out. Quick, polite, and friendly service. It was difficult to choose what to order since everything on the menu looked good. The salmon bento had a generous piece of fish over sauce rice, a fried spring roll with a drizzle of sweet and sour sauce, a mini deep fried roll with unagi sauce (probably my favorite item—tempura fry on it was perfect), and a salad with a sesame dressing. Fish was fresh and well-portioned in the sushi bento. The miso soup was very good, and the tea was excellent. Everything was delicious, but it was still so easy to get food envy every time another table got their order. Can't wait to try more items next time!
