Writing this review because some of the reviews are inaccurate. The cedar river does NOT flow through the dog park. There is a paved trail that runs along the river that you can walk your dog on, but it is not part of the dog park.
Pros: large fenced in area. Plenty of space small shy dog section separate from larger park slightly rocky but this keeps the mud down. My dog runs hard and doesnt mind the somewhat stoney ground no holes in fence can walk along river outside of park small covered picnic table area in summer 5 dog obstacles water trough and hose (fine for cooling off on hot days although its not really sufficient as a way to wash your dog off) close to community center fresh drinking water and there are usually dog bowls set out (although water shut off Jan - Mar ussually) owners do good job of cleaning up after their dogs
Cons no bathrooms free parking but is a little far from the dog area and in a somewhat sketchy area with people occasionally living under the overpass where cars are parked. Never had a problem in day but would not park in the lot in evening. little variety in the park (basically just a big open area) no swimming area (have to leave park to swim in river but would not recommend due to current most months)
Pretty standard dog park. Not Marymoor in terms of variety or scenery so I wouldnt make a special trip to it, but its a good option with plenty of space if you live relatively close to...
Read moreRecently moved here to Renton, my 3 dogs are very friendly and used to dog park/dog beach. Upon entering I unleashed my 3 dogs, there was about 30 other dogs present all well spread out. A shepherd/husky mix thing immediately attacked my female standard poodle rolling her on her back and attacking her neck and face. I start running over there as the owner grabs his dog and I check my dog the male owner states “she’s fine, he didn’t hurt her”. I had to yell at him to remove his aggressive, P.O.S. dog and that it shouldn’t be there if it isn’t friendly. He left quickly after when everyone else told him to go also. My female was rattled for a little while but overall the other dogs were pleasant and friendly. It is a very large fenced in area, just be aware of others dogs and that their owners may not be paying attention to them or they just don’t have a good recall. 1 dog kept mounting my male and he finally backed off but it was rather annoying. Might go again if I’m desperate but definitely looking for a better outlet for my...
Read moreThis dog park is disappointing. It's occasionally closed due to disease outbreaks, and the last time we were there the small dog gate was completely broken and unusable, and the main gate had one latch not working. There is one covered area, but with only one table it's not very inviting, and there are zero trees for shade. The ground is so hard and gravelly grass won't grow, and only a few wispy weeds brave the space in the far back. If you have a big dog there is space to run, but given the lack of shade, benches, and grass it's not much better than a fenced parking lot. We make the long drive to the Kent dog parks which are all vastly better. Renton needs...
