Wegmans Reston: A Premium Grocery Experience Worth the Investment
After numerous visits, we are still happy with our Wegman's experience.
If you're too busy to read lengthy reviews, here's the bottom line: when you need quality groceries, Wegmans delivers unbeatable variety and excellence. They offer both delivery and pickup services, and I'm happy to pay a little more for the quality and convenience they provide.
Wegmans in Reston offers a premium grocery shopping experience. The 85,000 square foot store, located at 11950 Hopper Street in Halley Rise, opened in 2023, so it's still as fresh as the food it sells. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better selection of fresh, quality produce anywhere. While quality meat does come at a premium price, if you're looking for discount food prices, Wegmans shouldn't be your first stop. However, if you appreciate quality and selection, you're in the right place.
Normally, I would have to travel between several stores to find everything that Wegmans offers under one roof. This definitely isn't your typical grocery storeâit has plenty of everything, with lots of specialty items not found elsewhere. The store truly shines in its variety and quality offerings, including approximately 1,200 wines and nearly 500 varieties of domestic, craft, and imported beers and ciders. They even carry interesting serving plates and bowls that you won't find at regular supermarkets.
Since we're only visiting for a couple of months, one of the standout features for us has been the extensive prepared foods section. Restaurant-quality foods prepared by Executive Chef Vinny Tacci and his culinary staff of 95 provide excellent options whether you're dining at home, in a hotel, or choosing their dine-in options. We even tried their sushi and weren't disappointed that we did.
We've been shopping here regularly since discovering this gem and have always been happy with the service. Wanting to know if this was typical for Wegmans, I checked online reviews and found that praise for their helpfulness was a consistent theme. If you need assistance, just turn aroundâan employee will be nearby and ready to help.
For those who value quality, variety, and exceptional service, Wegmans Reston is well worth the...
Read moreThis review is only for the floral department of the Reston Wegmans. I recently had to purchase a large amount of flowers for a work event, and the flower department manager (Susan was her name I believe) was extremely helpful. I was able to call the store on a Sunday afternoon, and she offered to hold several bunches of white hydrangeas and orange colored flowers for me after I told her I would be there shortly (I live in Ashburn). She mentioned that this was a good time to come by and get the flowers because she wasn't sure what would be available the next day. She let me know how I could reach her when I arrived (because she had a meeting she needed to attend), and when she came to help me at the flower center, she brought several buckets for me to transport the flowers. She also helped scan everything I wanted onto one receipt so that I could just hand it to the cashier. I was able to make 10 beautiful bouquets out of the flowers I purchased, and while it wasn't cheap, it was definitely less expensive than using a florist (I also received many compliments from our event attendees/staff about the flowers). There seems to be a good variety of flowers at this location, and I'm not sure if you can reserve items ahead of time, but there was plenty for me to choose from relatively last minute.
I should note that I did the same thing last year (for the same work event), but it was in May (rather than September), and it was around Mother's Day. I initially tried to get flowers at the Dulles Wegmans, but their stock was obviously limited or low, and I was able to call the Reston Wegmans's and received the same prompt and generous help I received this time (and they had plenty of flowers in stock). I believe the store had opened not that long before, but they were still able to help me with an even larger order.
I would highly recommend this location for a nice option for flowers, and thank you to Susan for...
Read moreA foodie paradise!! Perhaps the best grocery store in the US? That would be my assessment having lived in SF, Seattle, LA, Houston, Denver and now DC. The only store I can think was comparable was HEB's Central Market in Houston.
Duck legs for making confit - check! Veal chops - check! Osso buco - check! Lamb stew meat - check! A salami 'flight' - check! Aisles for specialty diets like keto or gluten free - check! Luxardo cherries - check! ETC...
I mean, this place literally has everything. Unlike some stores that have osso buco but no paper towels, Wegman's has it all. And most all of what I saw - milk, cottage cheese, tuna - came at very competitive prices.
The produce was fresh and lovely. A wonderful cheese and deli area. Fresh seafood counter that was well stocked. Great baked goods. And a large selection of prepared items ranging from charcuterie platters for a party to single-portion and family-portioned entrees.
I didn't find the parking to be awful, as some reviews suggest. The place opened 5 days ago and I'm sure it was a zoo on the first few days through the opening weekend, but it seems to have settled down now. At least 150 spots on the main level in the garage and, I presume, that many on the second level.
Checkouts were well staffed by intelligent people and quick. Prices rung up accurately, which is more than I can say for some of the other clown shows in the area.
Only downside I saw was the beer. It didn't appear you could buy single cans of craft beer and the selection (besides Belgian stuff) was pretty pedestrian. That was a disappointment with so many wonderful craft breweries in the...
