I realize it's been a while since I've posted. I'm currently sitting at Harvest and Vine - Kitchen and Cocktails (Westin Hotel) here in Reston, Virginia and watching 2024 (2025) NFL playoff games on a Saturday evening (11Jan25). A wonderful bar-lounge and hotel restaurant at the Westin, Sunrise Valley Drive. The cheeseburger sliders are excellent and the grilled grass-fed beef tenderloin (rare) with garlic sauteed kale, herb roasted potatoes and chef's special steak sauce is outstanding (I RARELY put sauce on my steak, yet this sauce is delicious). The lounge is softly lit with mood lighting behind the bar. There are four small flat panels and one medium-size flat panel behind the bar, and a large flat panel on the wall to the left of the bar. Plenty of viewing capabilities for your game-night crew - along with exceptional service to keep glasses filled and plates of food on the table. The menu is focused and high quality, making for an easy and simple choice for appetizers, salads, mains, sides, and dessert. The cocktail menu is what I would consider high-class, art-deco Los Angeles circa bowtie 1920's with some Caribbean Island influences. The beer lists go from conservative comfortable to adventurous IPA (Not seeing any sours...). The wine list is from mid-level priced respectable choices to highly reviewed and sought after selections like Chateau Montelena Chardonnay and Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon. Free parking is behind the hotel - drive through the overhang in front of the hotel, turn right, and pick your spot. Melvin and Scarlet double as bar tenders and wait staff. Melvin is an excellent mixologist... Just saying. I consider this place a quasi-speak easy location and a best-kept secret of Reston. Also, I must add that Anisa, at the front desk, and Benjamin (Ben), also at the bar and serving the dining room, are additional and outstanding people creating a wonderful experience here at Harvest and Vine. Enjoy! And! Back here on Tuesday evening, 14 January 2025, I met Shawna the Beverage Supervisor. First thing we discussed was the whole idea of adding sours to the beer list. She admitted considering this for some time. Although I've been working at becoming a fan of sours, I shared the opinions of two chief brewers in Manassas, VA stating, "If you wish to consider yourself a true beer taster, you must learn to appreciate sours." So, Shawna had agreed to add sour beer to the tap menu! Please,...
Read moreWent to a coworker’s retirement happy hour here with work people. Service was fine, not fast, but not slow. Maybe we had great company that we didn’t feel like like it was slow? Hostess checks on us quite often to make sure we didn’t need anything else. Their cocktail are okay, not extraodinary but it was what I wanted…. something’s sweet and not too much alcohol! *Wings and pizza were good. Pizza were a bit small , good for maybe 2 people serving! It was crispy! We also got brussel sprouts! It tasted great and sauce was great! I don’t mind coming back again for some small appetizers and drinks but I wouldn’t say it’s my...
Read moreI ate here for 5 nights straight while traveling for work. I work until late and rely on the convenience of a hotel restaurant. There are barely any employees working in the restaurant. Two bartenders appear to just be winging it. They are friendly, but it’s not a “restaurant” in the experience sense. The food is absolutely laughable. Very bland, overpriced, and objectively awful overall. I travel half the year. It’s the worst hotel restaurant food I’ve ever had in my life period. I will never stay at this...
