Rong Market — Attraction in Richfield

I was excited to check out this store after hearing about the great selection of live shellfish. However, I was shocked to find out this store sells live softshell turtle.

While turtle meat is still popular in some communities in this country, selling live turtle in this context is just needlessly cruel. Unlike most animal proteins, the slaughter of turtles in store or at home by an amateur results in needless suffering. Further, these turtles are clearly sourced from the Chinese turtle meat trade which is atrociously brutal and unregulated where the turtles are kept in unconscionable conditions. I am not against responsible meat trade or ethical slaughter, but I challenge this store to provide evidence of responsible practices.

This really makes me question how ethically the rest of their products are sourced as well. I would not shop here until this issue is resolved and will encourage others...

Very bad vibes from walking in to leaving I came in looking for something I needed last minute that I thought they might have had the lady at the front with the 2 kids working the register has terrible customer service I asked for the item she pointed behind her coming back I had one more item I thought they might have had I asked her she just pointed at another section saying it’s all there with an annoyed gesture I showed her a picture and did the same thing at that point I didn’t even want to spend any money with them but the original item I came for was something I needed at the moment and just bought it didn’t even take the chance wanted to leave so bad felt so unwelcomed I would suggest being more welcoming not only to your likes but to all...

Great asian grocery store. It's a lot bigger than it looks. Aisles are clean and well organized. Easy to read and find products and prices. You can find a very wide range of sauces, ingredients and much more. Lots of frozen products to choose from; meatballs, lobster balls, dumplings, wontons, fish, meats, seafood and a lot more. The seafood section is interesting, something you wont find at other mainstream grocery stores (in pictures). No hot foods here. Their selection of Ramen isnt too bad as they will have the more popular ramen in stock. A decent variety of asian snacks and beverages. The vegetables and fruit section well stocked and priced very well.

Overall, a good asian grocery store for the area. Would recommend checking it out if you're...
