We had a wedding here. We had both ballrooms. We had 131 guests there was plenty of room. The smaller one was used for ceremony larger for reception. Cocktail time in lobby. Everything was great. Home made by Suzanne was the venue and catering. Very delicious food. Staff was wonderful. Everyone very professional. Totally satisfied. Rented the 2 bedroom suite for bride 2 nights for dressing. That was great worth the price. Just no service of room. Used venue bridal room on wedding day. Parking on your own. We stayed at Hilton that was good, but they allowed dogs otherwise would be great. The picture is running from the end of dance floor to the rear. Allowing a fair amount of room to stairs to balcony

I had my wedding here in July 2021 and I have ZERO regrets. Maria and Tyler, the vendor coordinators were super helpful every step of the way. I had no communication issues and they went above and beyond with recommendations and day of help. I had a smooth wedding day even with another wedding taking place. There were no interruptions or issues. Not only is the venue gorgeous, but THE FOOD! I got so many compliments on it and it truly tasted homemade and exactly like it did at the tasting. All in all I can’t think of a single complaint. Every dollar was well spent and I had an amazing wedding. If you’re on the fence, book them for your event. You and your guests will have a great time.

I have worked weddings to having my own wedding at John Marshall Ballrooms and I can’t recommend this place enough. There aren’t many venue options that can comfortably hold around 150 guests, in addition to in-house catering with tables, chairs, linens etc in downtown Richmond. JMB was the perfect venue. We loved the historic hotel vibes. Majority of our guests came from out of town and it was very close to all hotels. Maria is absolutely amazing and their staff is always friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend having your next event at JMB. You won’t regret it! Photo Credit: Alex Hines Photo & Co

Our wedding at The John Marshall Ballrooms was beautiful, exquisite, and better than we ever could have expected.

The venue itself is right in the heart of Richmond. It has all the grandeur reflecting its impressive history, yet it doesn't feel "dated" - the space is both elegant and classy. The natural light in the smaller ballroom made our ceremony incredibly beautiful and accentuated the arch we built. The lobby area was perfect for our cocktail hour; it was grand yet comfortable for our guests to mingle and unwind before the reception. Our reception of over 100 fit comfortably in the Virginia Ballroom, but we easily could have fit in more. The tables and chairs were perfectly simple, allowing us to make our own centerpieces and not worry too much about coordinating with the existing decor.

The food was wonderful. Our guests couldn't stop raving about how delicious it was! We had 2 guests with an extensive list of allergies, and it was no problem for the caterer to make them separate plates even though we had a buffet set up. My husband and I had excellent wait service for the entire event, so we didn't need to worry about getting food with everything else going on. It was also easy to have vegetarian and glueten free options for our guests with those dietary restrictions.

The greatest part of our event was being able to work with the event coordinator at the John Marshall Ballrooms, Amy Loving. She was incredibly accommodating of various specific requests we had. She also helped us by providing recommendations where we were stuck and not quite sure what to do. We didn't have a wedding planner, and it turns out we didn't need one given how great Amy was! We also need to point out, as a same-sex couple, you never know how people are going to be. Amy never batted an eye and was there for us the whole time to make our event special. Amy's recommendations turned out great - not only did we have an unforgettable experience, but our guests from around the country and world of all ages kept telling us how this was the best or one of the best weddings that they've ever attended! We can't...

I can't give the John Marshall Ballrooms enough stars! It was a beautiful venue for our daughter's wedding reception. It could not possibly be easier to host a reception anywhere else. Onsite catering with linens and china provided makes things super easy. The venue itself is beautiful, so not much added decor is needed for a very classy presentation. Guests really enjoyed the food and the elegance. But the very best part is the STAFF! Maria is stellar at her job. From the very initial consult to the petal exit, she was extremely helpful! Questions were answered quickly, and she had plenty of helpful suggestions to make the reception go well. She acts genuinely excited to be hosting your event, and she always makes you feel she has all the time in the world to assist you. Kaitlyn is also an excellent, friendly addition to the team. The day of the event, Marvin and Anthony could not have been more wonderful! They made us feel they could accommodate whatever we wanted and didn't even complain when they had to sweep up tons of flower petals at the end. You cannot find a better event team anywhere! I would highly recommend investigating the John Marshall Ballrooms for...
