We visited the Virginia Washington Monument on a tranquil Sunday morning—though no formal ceremonies were happening, the striking equestrian statue of George Washington alone makes it profoundly worth the stop. Flanked by statues of fellow Revolutionary Virginians—Jefferson, Patrick Henry, Andrew Lewis, George Mason, John Marshall, and Thomas Nelson Jr.—and framed by allegorical figures symbolizing virtues like Independence and Justice, it’s a powerful tribute to the state’s legacy. Anchored on the axis of Grace Street, this grand monument beautifully complements nearby historical sites like the Capitol and Governor’s Mansion.
