Kids were over at granny and Papas the wife and I had a night to ourselves in the following morning we wanted to go grab brunch. They decided to drive downtown and I googled best brunch places and Capitol Waffle Shop popped up. Pictures and then you looked so interesting and unique that we decided we needed to give it a shot. Not a very big place so seating is limited and it was a little busy once we got there. They do have a few and I mean a few tables inside that you can be put on the waiting list or a few tables outside which were first come first serve. We didn't really understand exactly how everything was working so once we got up to the counter to put our name on the waiting list they told us that we should go ahead and order and once we got a table they would put our order in. Never have been here before the menu is a little bit overwhelming. They have so many unique items and combinations, I would highly recommend if you've never been here to look over the menu before you go to get an idea of what you want. We felt a little pressured at the counter with other people waiting. We got one of the fried apple fritters which was awesome! We also got I believe a waffle cordon bleu and then I'm not sure of the name quite honestly I went out and let my wife order everything it was a waffle with a ton of cran raisins on it. To be honest we weren't overly thrilled with what we got other than the apple fritter. I don't blame Capitol Waffle House on that though. We kind of just quickly picked something. With a little bit more time I'm sure I could have found something that was more to my taste being such a unique place will definitely go back to try something else. They do have a waffle that's made out of tater tots that actually looked pretty good. The staff was very friendly everyone was nice it was a beautiful day we ended up getting a table outside. They had a ton of different mimosas that you could choose...
Read moreMe, my wife and a group of friends were driving back home when we decided to eat some waffles on a sunday morning. Since Waffle House was so packed we ended up finding this place online and we decided to give it a try and we didn't regret it, not even a single bit. The place is kinda hard to spot from a moving vehicule but if you are walking around the are you should br able to spot it pretty easy. The place looks nice from outside specially with a couple of tables and chairs they have outside. Once you go in you'll notice that place is kinda small for families with 4 or more. As you go in you will see the board with all the waffles and ingredients they serve. They have so many options to choose from that I spent a good 10 minutes looking at the menu deciding wich waffle I would love to eat. So I ended up ordering the Chicken Cordon Bleu Waffle and man I don't regret it. The Waffle was thick and fluffy, the chicken was cooked to perfection and the melted cheese on top made it even better. Nothing about it tasted bad. They could definitely use bigger plates fro the Waffles since the ones the use are small for the size of waffle they serve. Also they don't have bottles of syrup like in any other restaurant so instead you have like small cups with some syrup in it in wich you'll need to grab a few depending on how much syrup you use. The Mimosas we ordered were really good. The mix between orange juice and champagne was mixed really good. Also didn't had any issues with the customer service, they were really helpfull and polite. Overall we had a great time and we...
Read moreCapitol Waffle shop is located in a rather discrete location nearby Jojo's Pizzaeria and the Bank of America building. I went into my meal at Capitol Waffle Shop with high expectations and was not disappointed in the slightest. First off, the shop has an incredibly welcoming vibe. Right when we walked in the worker behind the counter greeted us and handed my party menus. It can be a little overwhelming at first trying to build your own waffle or choose one of the customized waffles because you might think the flavor combinations just won't mix well. Well, I can tell you you will be surprised at how well Jalapeno's, queso, doritos, and fried chicken blend together on a waffle (The RVA Waf - I highly recommend, this was my personal favorite after trying my friends). The creators of these waffles know what they are doing. I ordered the Chicken and Waf and I built my own sweet waffle with strawberries, blueberries, whip cream, and sour patch kids. Don't sleep on the sour patch kid - fruity waffle combo... it was super tasty! Lastly, the waffle's are super affordable: 4 dollars for a build your own waffle and 5 dollars for most of the waffle's off the menu. If you go in to Capitol Waffle Shop hungry, I definitely recommend getting 2 waffles to fill you up. I will definitely be going back to Capitol...
