Our pediatrician referred us to this hospital on Friday afternoon, they admitted my 40 days child and till Monday morning they are not able to decide next steps as they are saying “we are waiting on another department’s doctor who is only one and will be available on Monday morning.” I am not getting any idea if they understand the word “emergency”.
Non of the doctor transfers information to the new one who is coming on next shift and that is causing miscommunication and wrong decision,
They plan to keep my infant no liquid diet for 3 hours and now it’s almost 4 hours and when I am following they stop answering me and we are on our own.
My child is like dehydrated patting the picture but they don’t care.
If a parent accidentally go wrong then there are so many consequences has been planned my our responsible governing bodies, but in terms of this kind of hospital? I don’t know what is there stance.
Last thing I can guess is about my color, I am not sure if my child is paying for that 🥲.
I am brown Desi person and if they don’t like that part of my existence then I would ask all of my race to read this and use your conscience before seeking help in this hospital.
For all other reviewers (paid/real), hospitals should be reviewed based the care and treatment and not the fancy furniture.
Lastly I would like to tag all the governing bodies to use the few minutes to read my experience.

Read moreThey need new social workers in the ER. Our nurses, doctors, techs, BERRT team, etc. were all fantastic. The social workers will gaslight you, make you feel like a terrible parent that you aren’t doing enough, and will ask leading questions. They are given too much power especially when your child’s treating VCU physician is saying they need to be admitted somehow these lower level workers are able to override that.
Also, their kitchen staff is negligent and the staff in the ER seems to think just because the dietary restriction is printed on the ticket that it’s being followed. Every single time we were there my child ordered something appropriate and the kitchen sent something up that would kill them. And some of the ER staff didn’t seem to understand the severity. This place needs more training instead of focusing on wardrobe and attendance (a common topic of discussion amongst the staff) maybe focus on policies and staff behavior.
Oh and their Covid tests aren’t accurate. The swabs they are taking aren’t thorough, nor are they labeled properly (every other facility will have you verify the information bedside) and false positives happen often because it’s happened to us twice. It feels like they are using those false positive tests as a reason to not treat.
Beautiful facility structurally. The cleanliness needs improvement, there was gum pressed into the handrail of the bed and the bathrooms were gross. They need to listen to the negative reviews...
Read moreIt's a lovely, brand-new building that faces East Broad Street, directly opposite the gray and Gothic-looking Old City Hall. I am of the opinion that VCU ought to change the address, at least temporarily, while they continue construction on the Marshall Street-facing 25% of the city block. It opened 3/21/17.
The address discrepancy is very confusing, especially for patients who are new to VCU (and potentially RVA) entirely. However, I do appreciate the excellent, $2 parking which can be found in the lower decks beneath the building. Patients will please be aware that you have to change which bank of elevators that you use at the Sky Lobby. The switch is not obvious, but luckily there are many kind people available at the Information Desk to assist newcomers.
VCU, I also recommend installing arrows on your elevator buttons, so that a brand-new person can tell which direction(s) the elevators are available to travel, merely by looking at the button. There's your...
