This was one of the most disappointing experiences for me. First, I would like to shout out John, Brittany, brendon or Brandon, and the maintenance staff. In no way do I believe any of this was attributed to the individuals above: it is my strong opinion they were on a tight budget with strict managers. In the beginning, everything was fine, until right around the time Greystar sold the property. Some issues did start beforehand, but not many. Our elevators were constantly breaking down with gaps in between fixes, and we had a horrendous squeaking noise in our bedroom on the top floor, that we were told was a malfunctioning fan that wasn't addressed for six months. I don't mean a small squeaking. A grinding you could hear through the entire house, making it a challenge to sleep. At one point, we had to wait 10-15 minutes for room temperature water to flow into our kitchen sink, though in the beginning we did not have this issue. Again, it was addressed after months of complaints. The apartment building had an infestation of flies and wasps, most likely due to the trash room. I thought it was only our apartment, confusing as that was as we were very clean and went on an entire cleaning spree. We had to complain, though it was known this was an issue before it was solved or brought to the residents attention. We had leaves in our drinking water and bath water randomly. Once new management took over, our apps that were used to alert us to packages, as the individuals weren't allowed to come up without someone being there, and often were told to leave the packages in the lobby were discontinued, one of the main reasons we chose this building. We also had to either call or go find someone to unlock the patio or courtyard area on the second floor, provided anyone was around and answered the phone, this was not an issue in the beginning as we were able to come and go. They raised concerns about unauthorized individuals in the beginning as the reason for locking down the area, so I recommended key fobs just like every other door for the courtyard. Sadly, they were never installed so we stopped attempting to use the facilities. They restricted key fob access to the back entrance, making it a hassle for those of us who have service dogs to relieve them. While the community was dog friendly, some were aggressive and walking in the back entrance was a way to avoid those confrontations. The hours that the locks were restricted were also not set correctly: I wasn't able to use the back door even in the middle of the day. While many of the front desk staff were polite and helpful, management hired many younger individuals who sat on there phones, ignoring residents who were struggling with full hands and needed the door unlocked. Many times these individuals were heads down on the phone talking, texting or watching videos. Don't move in if you have small children: the locks are old style hotel locks that can be easily opened from the inside. We asked for a chain for safety purposes and were told we couldn't install one due to liability issues. It may be a good short term rental for a six month lease if you are always working, but most hotels would be nicer. For the price, while it was on the cheaper end of Chicago's rent scale, it was not as advertised after about three months. 10/10 would not recommend. It's almost a full time job navigating the frustrations of...
Read more5/23/2025 I have now been living here for 2 months and I can proudly say I am loving my home. Definitely wasn't a smooth process getting into the place, but since moving in it has been awesome. The apartment is very comfortable and spacious. I was a bit worried about noise, due to Loyola students living here. You can hear them talking in the hallways, but they're just walking and talking to their apartment. Not a big deal. Other than that, you don't hear anyone else's utilities, and minimal dog barking. When I'm in the bedroom I can't hear anything, love it. The location is perfect. Sooo much around, and steps from the red line. Amazing experience so far.
3/4/2025 THANK YOU ELIZABETH!!! I appreciate you reaching out to me and being so helpful. You have my hopes back up now that I will enjoy the place. Again, your help and honesty deserves a 5-star rating and I'm looking forward to making this review an overall 5 star after getting your help.
I'm such a Mr. Positive, always trying to smile and make people smile, but yet another bad experience similar to a very recent previous review here. I toured a few units about 2 weeks ago. I liked both units I toured. That's the reason I'm giving an extra star. I was told once my application was approved, the unit could be held for 30 days. I got my quote, but I didn't fill out the application because I wanted to tour a few more places. I made my decision to go with The Morgan, but just my luck, the unit had JUST been rented out. That's fine. I called to inquire about a bit more expensive unit. I was ready to fill out the application, but all of the sudden the complex only holds units for 2 weeks. I asked to speak to Mike, but he "wasn't in". He's who gave me my original quote. I get a call back from someone else who says "he's no longer with the company." I'm not sure how Mike was able to give me a quote with a March move-in date, now all of the sudden it's "fill out an application and we'll see what's available when the time comes." So basically, roll the dice that something is available 2 weeks before my lease at my current place is up. I don't gamble, sorry. Then she was super ready to hang up and got very short with me when she realized I wasn't filling out an application, which is all she wanted. Just like the previous review, different answers depending on who you speak to, and turnover within the agents. Doesn't look good. With that much turnover it would be smart to put some terms down in writing. It seems like agents make their own terms. Once they're gone, it's a whole different ball game. It makes me wonder, had I filled out the app and got the apartment on hold for 30 days from Mike, would that have held? I have a feeling they would've went ahead and rented out the unit. The place itself is in a great location, and I really liked the units I toured. It doesn't seem like a cohesive staff at...
Read moreMake no mistake, this is an expensive college dormitory. One additional star because the units are decently nice (AC, balcony, gas range, big windows) but are of poor construction.
Students will leave their trash in front of their doors and will also leave a trail of trash juice from their apartment to the trash room. Look at the carpets in the hall which were just replaced in 2017 and you will see stains already The parking garage stairs constantly smell of weed At least a few times a week the parking barrier is broken, which means expect to wait 10-30 minutes to enter/leave the parking garage Students will throw parties in the community room and will scream/yell obscenities in there. If you are working out in the gym or live near the room expect it to be terrible. Concierge didn't help at all to keep them in check which means you are on your own and/or may need to issue a formal noise complaint with the police The new hardwood floors are cheaply installed with no cushion resulting in you hearing every step the people take above you Majority of tenants are students who will party late into the night. Combined with poor insulation means you won't be able to sleep Maintenance staff consistently hanging out near the front doorman between the hours of 7-9am. Not professional. In the summer big spider webs will develop on your windows. However because the building is 'green', management forbids the use of pesticides. This means you get to live with nice views of spiders in the summer. Management is extremely unresponsive and will not follow through with most things you request/need (even if you remind them multiple times). Mandy is the one person who is reliable, but unfortunately does not work...
