Great staff, great food, great place
I go into this potbelly pretty often because I live right off campus. Earlier today, some friends and I came to grab dinner and, while we were in line, this customer just started going off at one of the employees. She started somewhat civil though bordering on passive aggressive but very quickly escalated to her raising her voice, calling out the employee, threatening her - completely out of line. The employee handled the entire situation extraordinarily professionally. She wasn’t rude back, she expressed relevant information in a calm manner, and when she realized the customer had no interest in listening and only in seemingly making a fuss, she focused on making the order, not adding fuel to the fire, and getting the line going that this customer had backed up. All in all, I just wanted to say that she did an incredible job. I’m sure the customer will be leaving a review or trying to get ahold of management but I just really want to make sure it’s clear that - from myself and my 2 friends, complete outsiders to the situation - the customer was very, very much stepping out of line and the employee did an incredible job handling a very stressful situation.
As a side note, I’ve been coming to this Potbelly for more than 2 years now and - wow - awesome place. Probably my favorite little food place around Loyola. The Chicken Pot Pie soup is awesome, the cookies and milkshakes are great (though bring back that lemon cookie, that one was good). And, beyond just this one employee, the workers here have always been really nice, smiling, and -...
Read moreI had a bad experience. First I've only been to potbellys 3 times and that's only bc I would always go next door to taco bell (no joke literally everyday) but they kept saying " the Mexican!the Mexican(long story) I Go up to the counter I don't know the stations and I'm still deciding,I get greeted tell them I'm not ready and they say ok.I ask about the app bc I don't know how to make it a meal if they even do that, they get who I guess is the manager and he can't figure I out either,he says. I can still get the points tho.cool.i tell him I'm read and she says "oh!NOW you're ready :)" yea,I tell her and they make it and she says ok. They're at the part where they have to add the veggies and it has cheddar tell her I wanted provolone and I tell her it's fine, cue the back and forth of "oh no it's ok" from me and " oh I can remake it" from her for 45second. I have to go out of my way and tell her no its ok that's fine don't worry about it iI'm used to people messing up my order " I tell her what toppings I want and. I tell her. I want onions one the side she says she put them on there I say I want some on the side, you know where this went for another 30 seconds .I pay and guess what forgot the points so I go back in and the guy says "okso now I have to refund it then charge again" I say don't worry he says "next time YOU have to remind us” I said " you could ask you didn't even ask" and he says " next time you have to remind us" mine you this was 20 before close.I wonder if this is why.my shifts usually start at 8 and they...
Read moreI volunteer for a global non-profit and had the absolute pleasure working with the General Manager, Stephen Randall, and his team.
During our week long stay at Loyola University, Stephen personally worked with me to provide 320 boxed lunches for our students and staff to enjoy on our trip to the Museum of Science and Industry. Not only were they able to accommodate the dietary restrictions of our group, they labeled every meal accordingly and provided additional help loading our vehicle.
Making one sandwich already requires a considerable amount of care and time, especially to make it custom to patrons but to make 320 - that takes dedication. We wanted to recognize the complete care and devotion of time to make this feat possible and we are so thankful for the outstanding work that Stephen and his team did for us.
Additionally, Stephen's team continued to provide service to our staff members throughout the week, making sandwiches and shakes. We were always met with smiling faces; prompt service; and a pleasurable experience.
If you're looking for good food, friendly staff, and accommodating catering, I 100% recommend coming to this location and connecting...
