We have an aunt who acquired cdiff here & will miss her son's funeral, so now I thought I need to share what I experienced. I went in a few months ago with potential cdiff. I told the check in I would need access to a toilet & might have cdiff. I told triage nurses the same thing. Instead of a room with a commode, I had to use the communal restroom where all patients and visitors go. Repeatedly. I was very concerned abt spreading this to others. The nurses were not. One triage nurse even told me, "Oh well, this is the hospital. Everybody is sick here anyway." Once I finally got back into the ER room, the staff there actually took it seriously at least. I could have infected every single person, young and old, who used that waiting room bathroom. This was very disturbing to me. There is nobody to report this to, so it is what it is. But on acct of what our aunt is now suffering, I just wanted to mention it. There were two other times at Mercy ER that we noted poor treatment of patients over the years. Same doctor handled them both, & I hope he is gone now. One was when my spouse had Guillain Barre and was sent home unable to even walk. Told he was just dizzy from a sinus infection. He needed cardio ICU by the time I finally took him back to the ER a second time. Nobody cared that he was sent home to die. Nothing was ever done. I ran into the same doctor again when I took my daughter in for a head injury. He pooed it off like nothing, didn't even check her out. She ended up having thousands of seizures after that. Again, who do you tell? So we are always a little leery of using Mercy ER in Rogers. I only went with the stomach thing because Northwest was so slow to handle things. Maybe slower is better, idk. Just sharing what we've experienced here in case it matters. Their ER really needs an overhaul. It's been a mess for many years. I also recall a time when I was there with severe chest pain and forced to wait for 4 hours in the waiting room because I was forgotten. This is dangerous, but what can you do? I'm not sure we have any good ERs in NWA, but this one has the potential to be good if they would train everybody better. Just...
Read moreI went and saw my dental surgeon Tuesday for my second round of antibiotics since I'll be getting my wisdom teeth out hopefully soon and they ended up not working so my infection/abscess spread down my jaw into my neck so it's swollen and hurts to turn my head and I can barely open my mouth and I haven't been able to really eat from the pain. So I contacted my dental surgeon and he recommended I went to Mercy to get IV antibiotics. I don't have medical insurance at the moment and I told the ER but they didn't want to give me IV antibiotics like my surgeon recommended instead they prescribed me an antibiotic that cost 100 dollars. I haven't been able to work because of the pain I've been in. I sat there for awhile mainly waiting on paperwork. And every employee kept repeating the same exact questions every time they came in. I would have thought they would have done a work up on my blood or something to make sure the infection didnt spread more or see if I was dehydrated or anything because how long Ive been like this. I just get told to make an appointment with my dentist when I told them my dentist is the one who told me to go to the ER. So now I have to wait a few days still in pain after being in pain already for almost a month just to see if the antibiotics even work. The male medic was super nice though he tried his best and was very friendly. The doctor was nice I just wish he would have cared more and not make me wait for a 3rd antibiotic to see if it Works. I didn't ask for pain meds so I don't understand why he wouldn't do IV antibiotics. I have been crying in pain and was crying when I left knowing I have to go back home still feeling like this and made me feel hopeless. Now I'm gonna get an er bill just for mainly sitting there waiting for paperwork. I was told he was gonna bring me something to take before I left but I never got anything. I just wish I could have gotten the help my dentist...
Read moreI went in for flank pain (kidneys, which I just had stones and surgery back in late October). Everyone seemed nice and eager to help. Once I was back in a room I was vomplcompl ignored. I put on my call light to use the restroom and after it sounded for 2 minutes it was shut off from the outside, no one came. I waited 3 minutes thinking someone would walk in, no one came. My pain was awful because I needed to urinate bad and it was causoca my kidneys to hurt worse. No pain meds yet. Pushed my light again and finally after another 2 minutes someone random answered it and showed me where the restrooms were. Finally seen the doctor and she ordered me pain medication.. over an hour later the nurse finally brought it to me. Several people seen me covered up with my jacket because I was cold and no one asked if I would like a blanket. Each time I put on my call light to use the restroom it was ignored. (No the ER wasn't full and when I did go out of my room there were several people just sitting around). Also, I mentioned to several different staff members that I was starving but was never offered even saltines. When I had my CT scan my nurse didn't even know. Then after waiting for 2 hours on my results and having to deal with rude staff and poor care I asked if I could go home. The nurse that I asked was so rude to me like I was wrong for wanting to leave. I told her that I was tired of starving and freezing without any help from the staff, that I much rather be in pain in my own home and I'll get my results in the morning from my doctor. Overall it was a terrible experience. I have never felt more alone than I did last night. That is NOT quality care. As soon as I am able to figure out who I need to talk to about my poor quality care, I will be filing...
