I definitely recommend Noel Flynn Gallery and Frame Factory as the best framing services available! Regardless of age or location, we all search for those people who are trustworthy; and if we are lucky, a lasting bond forms. It has always been very evident that Noel Flynn loves his work. He is professional, knowledgeable, and caring. He has a talent for recognizing exact shades of color, complimentary textures, and quality materials. He manages to pull these elements together for an overall excellent combination. He accomplishes this while working with his customers. At the start of each new endeavor, Noel asks what it is that I want. Sometimes I have a vague idea. Sometimes, I am overwhelmed and have no idea at all. He patiently guides me through the process of finding that -“Yes, that’s it – the perfect fit”. Getting a picture framed can be an extremely stressful situation for me. I have a difficult time making choices, hoping not to make a costly mistake! Many years ago, I did not listen to Noel’s advice about how the exact colors of the same frame may not necessarily be the same, if they are ordered after a significant amount of time has passed. I had fallen in love with a specific frame that I wanted to match a previously purchased one. Unfortunately, the new frame did not match the original. In fact, they made each other look terrible together! I knew I had made a hopeless mistake that I had to just accept. Unfortunately, this meant putting this latest purchase in a cupboard out of sight where it stayed for quite awhile. I am now retired, and have time to return to my goal of properly framing my artwork with the best quality frames. I recently shared my “disaster frame story” with Noel. He was extremely generous in offering me an equivalent replacement. I was overwhelmed by his generosity! I do not believe that there are many businesses that would even consider making such an offer! Finally, I want to mention that Noel offers custom etched picture mats. These beautiful, unique creations add a very distinct detail without being too busy. I have used them on my black and white family portraits and definitely plan to buy more. Now, 30 years later, I realize I was lucky enough to find my perfect frames, and that enduring bond I was looking for. I found all of this at Noel Flynn Gallery and...
Read moreThe Noel Flynn Gallery and Frame Factory performed a skillful and thoughtful repair/restoration of 40-year-old waterproof maps I had stored in my garage. The maps represented a journey I took in the Canadian border lakes area north of Minnesota. I was 14 traveling by plane, bus and boat we arrived at the embarkation point launching us into the unknown areas of the vast Canadian wilderness. Occasionally throughout the 60 plus years since the adventure would unroll the maps and admire and relive the experience. Back then I bought the maps for 25 cents each. I traced the route of lakes, portages and places, on the maps never thinking about what I would do with the maps. Sadly, the paper became fragile and began chipping and splitting. These maps moved with me as I moved through my life. I knew that if I did not restore or preserve the maps that they would be lost forever. My dear wife suggested that we stabilized the maps by getting them dry mounted on a backing board material . Prior to visiting Noel Flynn’s gallery, I went to several places who, upon inspecting the maps, refused to perform the work because they were not qualified to perform the delicate repair. We were referred to Noel Flynn because of his reputation for working on such restorations. Noel’s professional knowledge, plus skills and dedication made the amazing transformation. The did something no one else could and they did a superb job. I look at the maps differently now thanks to Noel Flynn Gallery and...
Read moreFrom a 3x5 photo, my husband Jim commissioned a painting of the Old Log Cabin he lived in until he was 6 years old on Troublesome Creek in Eastern Kentucky. It had no electricity or running water, was heated by a coal stove and, of course, had an outhouse. And yes, he and his family welcomed the annual arrival of the Sears Catalogue. His father was a coal miner, mother was a wife and housekeeper and grandparents lived with them. Life was very primitive but he had fond memories of growing up there.
So, after considerable research, but with some apprehension, he took the painting to Noel Flynn Gallery and Frame Factory in search of the perfect frame to complete this important memory of his youth. Wow, we were not disappointed. From the moment he first stepped in the door and spoke with Elora, he knew he had found the person and place for this job. Elora is an artist and Jim immediately felt she was not there just to sell him a frame but to assist in completing his vision. She showed Jim a number of options and made several recommendations that culminated in the framed painting attached. For us, the frame captured just the right balance between the elegance we were looking for in order to showcase in our home without detracting from the rustic charm of this remote setting in Eastern Kentucky.
We were so pleased, we had two additional paintings framed with the assistance of Elora. Thank you Elora and Noel Flynn Gallery & Frame Shop for your exceptional work and...
