IT IS DECEMBER 23, 2013, AND MY WIFE WAS SHOPPING AT FIVE BELOW THE MERRILLVILLE/HOBART STORE WHEN SOMEONE STOLE HER PURSE FROM THE SHOPPING CART CONTAINING ALL OF THE FAMILIES MEDICAL CARDS, SOME CREDIT CARDS, HER DRIVER LICENSE, HOLIDAY CASH AS WELL AS OUR RENT FOR THE MONTH AND MANY PERSONAL BELONGINGS !!!! I HAVE CONTACTED THE STORE IN THE MATTER AND SPOKE WITH SUE THE STORE MANAGER, SHE INFORMED ME THEY DID NOT HAVE A SECURITY PERSON ON STAFF AT THE TIME OF THE OCCURRENCE AND WILL LOOK FURTHER INTO THE MATTER !!! SO I CALLED BACK AND SPOKE WITH LUIS THE GENERAL MANAGER AT THAT FIVE BELOW AND HE INFORM ME THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE AND WORKING CAMERAS AT THE TIME OF THE OCCURRENCE SO I ASKED HIM WHY THAT WAS ? THINK THAT THEY WERE JUST NOT WORKING AT THE TIME I ASKED HIM WHY AND HE HAD NO GOOD REASON WHY . I FURTHER ASKED FOR THEIR CORPORATE NUMBER AND HE SAID HE DID NOT KNOW THE NUMBER OR EVEN HAD ANY ACCESS TO IT. I THEN ASKED FOR THE REGIONAL MANAGERS NUMBER AND RECEIVED THEIR DISTRICT MANAGERS NUMBER. SO I PROCEEDED TO CALL HIM, A GUY NAMED TIM. CALLING AND SPEAKING WITH TIM WAS EVEN MORE UPSETTING THEN I NEED TO HER. I ASKED TIM WHY THE CAMERA IN THAT STORE DID NOT WORK AND HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT NONE OF OUR STORE HAVE ANY CAMERAS, HE THEN ANSWERED ME THAT ALL OF OUR CAMERAS IN THE STORE ARE ONLY DUMMY CAMERAS. SO I ASKED HIM WHY THE HELL THAT WAS AND HE SAID THAT THEY ONLY PUT CAMERAS IN THE BAD NEIGHBORHOODS AND THAT THEY JUST DON'T HAVE ANY IN ANY IN HIS STORE AND THAT HE HAS NO SAY IN THE MATTER ! AND THAT IF IT WAS UP TO HIM HE WOULD PUT A REAL CAMERA AT EACH END OF EVERY AISLES AND FIVE SECURITY GUARD AS WELL !!! SO I ASKED HIM IF HIS STORES ARE THAT DANGEROUS WHY THEY DID NOT ALREADY HAVE THEM. I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED IN THE OUTCOME !!!! ALSO FILING A POLICE REPORT . Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe location was clean and well stocked, but and my experience today with the employee on staff was subpar. It was very busy and she was stocking items in the very front of the store. She didnāt greet us, which was fine, but then the next couple came in directly behind us and she greeted them very warmly. Then I asked her if they carry menās wallets and she snapped back āWe aināt got those no more.ā I thanked her, but it was such a harsh answer I almost apologized for asking. She ended up ringing us up at the register. I was buying incense and let her know there were 12. I counted 12 exactly so I would spend $3 even. She didnāt acknowledge what I said and proceeded to pop open the packet and count all the sticks. She didnāt count them one by one - but as a group. She said āThere are thirteen.ā I wasnāt about to argue with her since she was acting like she was about to rage quit anyway, so I just apologized for my error. She seriously stopped what she was doing to stare at me like I was trying to steal a .25 cent incense stick.
Anyway, I just got home and counted...

The first worker I come in contact with holds up a single finger to me, I get it they were busy but they didnāt say a single word. I finally get helped and they have to call another worker to help, again I understand that. The lady who helped me though was instantly rude to me and asked for the receipt, again I show her my phone and she says thereās nothing she can do about it which is fine. But what really got me was the fact that she was completely unprofessional, she came up and was sucking on a lollipop the whole time talking to me. It was genuinely the worst experience Ive had here, maybe we should train our employees/managers a little bit better because that was disappointing and to be honest...
