The staff is so rude here. Not even worth going. Either find a different Plato’s Closet location or don’t even bother. The girl at the counter wouldn’t give me the time of day when i asked what the process was (the last time i went to a Plato’s Closet (different location), the staff went through my items right in front of me which i liked, as i was able to ensure no items were overlooked, went missing, etc.) This time, she told me i had to come back 30 minutes later and I wasn’t even able to watch them go through my items. Given how rude she was, I didn’t trust her and I’m sure some of my items are missing in what they gave back to me. A different woman was at the front desk when i returned. She didn’t even turn around when talking to me. She asked for my last name with her back to me, so i couldn’t even hear her and i had to ask her to repeat herself. She proceeded to tell me that due to the season, they weren’t taking everything I had brought (which was fine, i figured they wouldn’t take everything, especially dresses), but then told me that they were taking 5 items. She didn’t even tell me which 5 items until i asked to see them. She lifted up a box, and folded each item over the other so i could “see” them. The funny thing is, they took 4 sweaters and 1 sundress. I asked “you’re taking that dress but not the other dresses i brought in?” Her response was “we’re selective.” She doesn’t even know she took the cheapest dress out of all of my items — there were dresses far nicer and far more expensive in what i had brought in. Regardless, they gave me $17 for 5 items. $17 is a fraction of what i paid for ONE of those sweaters. Just not worth it, especially given how nasty they are in here. As i was walking out, another customer was walking out behind me and i said to her “my God, they’re so mean in there.” She completely agreed with me and said it was a waste of her time to even go.
Message to the staff: If you hate your job, you don’t need to take it out on the customers.
Despicable behavior by the staff and I’ll never return to this place ever in my life. What a...
Read moreHad an unfortunate customer service experience today. I've been coming to this location since I was a teenager, so probably around a decade. I am always hesitant to try to sell clothing here because of all the other bad reviews. I've found out a new secret (I guess "strategy"?) at this business that would explain why a lot of people express frustration at their clothes not being accepted despite being in style! My friend and I came in today with a big bag of clothes each and were told to wait over 90 minutes for our clothes to be gone through. We were told, (in embarrassing earshot of everyone else in the store as is customary) that our clothes were torn, pilled, stained, and out of style-- so every buzzword combined that they use, not just one of them. I know this happens at Plato's, so I combed through what I was getting rid of prior to coming to make sure it was all clean and all things/brands I see there regularly. So I was annoyed to begin with, but again, this is a regular/expected PC experience. I get to my car and open my bag... and all of my clothes are folded and ordered in the VERY specific, tightly packed way I put them in before leaving minutes later to bring them over. So were the clothes in my friend's bag. In other words, we were encouraged to stick around all that time for them to 1. lie to us that they looked at our items, 2. thusly didn't provide us with a promised service (and wasted our time/gas), and 3. insulted my items without actually having looked through them at all. Between this and the recent price hike at this location I guess I'll be sticking to online thrifting and Goodwill. The one cashier was nice but come on... don't mess with people...
Read moreI would leave ZERO stars if I could. I have tried selling here multiple times and each time has just been an absolute WASTE of time. The girls are insanely rude, and don’t even give you the time of day when telling you why they aren’t taking your clothes etc. when you’re they’re done with your buy. My latest time there, I waited almost 3 hours just to be told they only took two pieces for $6 and my clothes were all stained and out of date. Which is a COMPLETE LIE. None of my clothes I brought in were stained and all of them were purchased just this past year. How in the world is that out of date?!! The math ain’t mathin on that. Your workers are simply LAZY. I brought in Calvin Klein jeans, and the GAP. And I know for a fact the pant suit I brought in wasn’t stained because it had a bag around it the entire time I had it until I brought it in. I’ve seen raggedy clothing in this place and also seen clothing with stains on it that ya’ll buy and put on the rack and yet I get told mine are stained and out of date. Be so forreal. This place is not worth it. Not worth the drive, the wait, not worth a damn thing. I thought it would be different under the new owners but NOPE still the same old bs as before. And the girls working there need a huge reality check and a big attitude check. Let’s start acting our wage and stop acting like we’re better than...
