Ocean Nails — Local services in Roxbury Township

I’ve come here a few times to do my gel filling manicure and gel pedicure. Katy is usually the one who services me and has done an “OK” job. Today, I asked her if she can do Ombré white nails, and showed her a picture of what I wanted. She said “sure, ombré, no problem, I can do that”. I’ve never had ombré done, so was not familiar with the process. She proceeds to apply the white nail polish onto my nails with a sponge. I found it odd but figured she had to go through a process before I could judge. The end result looked like someone splattered nail polish onto them. It looked nothing like the picture. So I told her that I didn’t like it, and that it didn’t look ombré and showed her the picture again. She says with an attitude “that’s airbrush, we don’t do that. I thought you knew this”. Seriously!? YOU told me you could do it! I proceeded to tell her to change it, because I didn’t like it and do just French instead. Her and the owner Tina start speaking in their language and she continues to mumble under her breath with attitude “I thought you knew we don’t do this”. Like I’m supposed to magically know what her skills are?! It’s the audacity of the attitude that really got to me. $55 service of false pretenses and...

I like Ocean Nails for what it is - a no nonsense nail place. The people who work there are nice and accommodating. They do your nails and that's that. ..no fancy shmancie anything and I guess that's why the prices are so low. ... $17 for a gel manicure. What I don't like about the place is that it's in need of some cleaning and maintenance. I was there for a manicure and used the bathroom. The sink had a sheet of paper in it that said the sink was broken and not to use it. I returned over 2 weeks later and the same paper was in the sink. I understand that dust is just part of the territory that comes with a nail place but the dust is everywhere. . The lights into which hands are placed to cure the nail gel feel scuzzy. As I mentioned, this is a low key place that is not designed to give you that spa feeling but it would be nice to feel that the owners care about your experience enough to clean and...

Ocean Nails is THE BEST you will come across in NJ, especially Tina! She has been my nail tech for several years and never disappoints! 😍 There isn’t a single design she can’t do and matches my picture examples to a tee, if not better! She has always been accommodating with squeezing me in due to my hectic work schedule as well as hers since she books quick! She is also extremely gentle, efficient and their prices are very reasonable for the work that goes into what you’re getting. So many people have asked where I get my nails done and they’ve always been very happy with the recommendation.
