6 — Attraction in Royal Oak

Okay so where do I begin….?… So I have lived in Michigan nearly 8 years now. When I tell you I have never had a good haircut… I’m not lying or bluffing one bit. I have naturally curly hair. Very thick. So unless you know what you’re doing, it’s super easy to mess up. Unfortunately, I went to 7 different salons/barbers to get my hair done, and everytime it was messed up. Holes, uneven, incorrect fade, cuts, you name it, it happened!! But after careful consideration I decided to step into 6 salon in royal oak. Most may ask why did I choose this place. Well first of all, I work for Rafa and his wife. I truly believe that if you have the chance to give back to the people that give to you, you should, always!! Upon even arriving, I was a bit confused about the parking because I live in downriver and this was a first for me to back in to a spot lol. So when I called the salon, the sweet young lady directed me and stayed on the phone to ensure I was able to park in the garage that had the first 2 hours free. That made me happy as a fat cat! She didn’t have todo that, so thank you!! From there, Rafa was prompt and punctual!! He listened to me, he understood what I wanted, he gave me what I asked for plus 200%!!!!! I can’t even remember how many tools he used on me. He took me from wildebeest to model in 2 hours!! I of course wanted to tip him generously!! He insisted I didn’t, but that’s a no bueno for me!! You work hard, and you deserve every Penny and more for your work!!! Rafa, made me feel so good about myself! Plus not to mention the rest of the stylists, colorist, and many others that complimented my hair as well. I truly felt like I was pampered and cared for on a level that others may never understand!! 6 salon royal oak will always have my business!! Rafa pena is the best when it comes to curls!! He made me look so fresh, that I want him to start doing my facial hair as well!! My special request that I’ve asked of so many is, the “V” shape in the back. I’ve never met anyone that could do it and blend it correctly!! Well Rafa again shot to the moon and did an amazing job!!! I’m telling you, being a southern boy, we’re picky about our hair!! Especially me!!! I will not ever show up looking awful and disheveled!! I’m gonna start off with saying I did my hair a few times at this salon I had my hair done by a couple different hairstylist they was wonderful but then when I went back I saw Peter marks again for balayage with money pieces I told him I want some thicker money pieces not so blended of a look and a light blonde well he gave me the me opposite of that yellow tone that didn’t lift enough and just 2 thicker highlights in the front no where else so I left it go thinking I’ll like them once I get home and do my makeup and maybe after a few washes with purple shampoo they will lighten up but they didn’t and my kids got sick then I got sick and never had a chance to call so after I started feeling better realized how ugly of a job I got I called to ask for a manager they said he’s not in I can have him call you back so I was fine that gave them my information told them what was the reason for the call and I waited no call back so I called again to let them know it’s urgent cause I’m attending a wedding in a week and want to get my hair fixed they said same they will have him call me again for the second time I said ok the second time again manager still have not contacted me so now it’s 3 days later I call again he finally gets on the phone I let him know what’s going on he says he’s gonna talk with Peter marks and get back to me tomorrow I said ok he never calls me back the following day like was supposed to I had to call 2 days in row to get him on the phone just for him to tell me there’s nothing that he can do unless I want to pay again Peter marks will see me I told him I don’t want to pay again I’m not looking for complete redo over highlights I just want a toner to break up the yellow he said it don’t work that way the only way to get them lighter is to bleach them so I told him I’m not coming In again after I paid $400 to walk out with yellow hair after paying that type of money I should be happy with my hair color so I went to another place and got them toned and they’re much better now and no you don’t have to re bleach to get them lighter a toner did the job they just wanted me to pay again for highlights I recommended this place to my friends and family in the past I will not anymore the manager did not handle the problem Correctly don’t wast ur money very overpriced they go higher in price whenever they...

I cried when I got home. I came in prepared with 4 different photos of what I wanted: a textured bob above the shoulder. I wanted balayage color done. I feel like I may have booked wrong because the stylist kept saying "That's balayage not highlights." I feel like at this point I should have been charged for and received balayage because I explained that's what I want, but she proceeded to do only "face-framing" highlights, saying it was because of the box dye I had used over a year previous.

I was willing to spend a lot of money on this. I explained to her I hadn't cut my hair or been in a salon for a very long time. This was supposed to make me feel pretty; instead I left feeling worse about myself than when I came in. The whole thing felt rushed; I was left under a dryer, which had shut off, while I watched my stylist shampoo someone else. My own shampoo experience felt like someone just putting it on and rinsing it off as fast as possible. I was honestly hoping for a better experience considering the amount of money I had spent and was willing to spend. I left with essentially a single length, textured cut BELOW the shoulder, with a few highlights barely a shade above my original shade. I honestly mentally tapped out at some point because it became clear that the stylist wasn't listening to what I was trying to say I wanted.

The ONLY upside I will mention is that I was recommended some great products. That said, she showed me a scalp scrub, asked if my roots were oily or dry, and recommended the scrub based on my answer that my roots were normal to dry. I read the container when I went home only to find out the gave me the one for oily hair. This whole thing felt like half an effort on the stylist's part and a huge rip-off.
