Machine in Ink Tattoo Studios — Attraction in Saint Peters

This shop is seriously family! One night after work, I was looking for a new shop and stumbled across this one. It was right before closing time, and had no intention of getting tattooed that night, but walked in and sat down to wait to speak to an artist. There was a family waiting to be tattooed already, and I decided to stick around and wait it out. BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE. In the early morning hours, the family is done being tattooed, and the owner Mike comes to me and was so shocked I had waited that long just to go over ideas for my wedding date cover up (going through divorce). He was patient, listened to me, and immediately went to work drawing something up. He then insisted he would personally tattoo me for the wait, and so my cover up was completed right then and there. I ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. The line work, the detail, the shading, the love that went into it is ON POINT. It also incorporated an older tattoo which he touched up just because! Afterwards, I returned and was immediately recognized and greeted, asked about how my cover up healed and was treated like one of their own. His female artist tattooed me my recently, also on a complete whim, but was something OUTSIDE her comfort zone, also at closing time, and she SLAYED it! Prior to her starting though we sat and conversed for almost an hour, like we'd be friends for years! The atmosphere in this shop in incredible and I will NEVER go anywhere else again. If I could give more that 5 stars I would. Mike and his team go above and beyond, have a clean environment, strong family-oriented vibe, diverse tattooing team, and continue to build and grow on a daily basis. AWFUL EXPERIENCE! Placed a $200 deposit on a quarter sleeve (pictured below). I wanted 95% same design and was open to some creativity by mike. He was totally distracted the whole time, it took us 3.5 hrs to get a design even laid out on my arm, and it wasn’t even close to what I asked for! The design I requested wrapped around the elbow and up into the tricep, his design was way way way too small. Made the whole process very stressful and was just a nightmare pillar to post. Looked nothing like what I requested and now I’m stuck with this stupid purple ink on my arm.

I felt totally blown off and didn’t have his attention the entire session (mike the owner). Booked a 11am session didn’t even get started until 12:30. Brought multiple pictures from different angles and told him I wanted basically the exact same thing. He kept trying to force me to change the design and make it smaller etc. unbelievably bad experience I’m super pissed off and out $200 which I don’t even want back cause I’m that disgusted with this shop. TOTAL JOKE TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE

Owner is a total joker talking about guns and drugs and petty drama during tattoo session.

I had an absolutely incredible experience with Chris Land at Machine in Ink Tattoo Studio! From start to finish, Chris made the entire process smooth and stress-free. Scheduling was super easy, and he worked closely with me to refine my idea for a meaningful memorial tattoo for my parents. He listened to every detail I wanted to incorporate and turned it into something truly beautiful and personal.

The studio itself is a perfect blend of professionalism and comfort. It was well-maintained yet inviting, with comfy couches and TVs that made the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. The other artists and patrons were friendly and easy to talk to, which added to the positive vibe of the place. I am someone who suffers with anxiety about “new” things, and I felt super comfortable with every part of the process.

Most importantly, I’m beyond happy with my tattoo—it’s everything I envisioned and more. Chris’s skill and care really shine through in his work. I can’t recommend him and Machine in Ink enough!
