I have had the opportunity to join Friday Night Clay on two occasions. On both occasions, the instructors were great - amiable, patient, informative. Definitely enjoyed the class. The clay they use for this, however, is trash clay. I'm all in board for recycling and reusing and not wasting materials but this clay is tough to work with which makes sense why the class is less expensive than others in the area. Understandable and that's fine with me but when I'm working with clay on the wheel and I'm unable to work with it because there's a screw in the clay, that's a problem. Luckily, the instructor was able to dig it out before any injuries were involved. Didn't ruin the evening; still had fun and made some great pieces. The major problems occur after your leave the studio. First, they inform you it will take two weeks for you to receive your pieces. After my first experience, I received my pieces close enough to that time frame but they had mixed up my pieces. One of mine was missing and I had someone else's in my bag. The person working the front desk at that time was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to help me find my piece. My first experience was mostly redeemed. But, this second experience was horrendous. We didn't receive our pieces until a month and a half later. I had called at the month mark to follow up and was just informed very uncertainly that they likely just weren't ready yet but should be fired up soon. I was almost convinced the pieces were lost until I received a call two weeks after that they were ready. The woman on the phone offered a weak apology for the delay and that they had lost one of the pieces but they had found it and all was good. When we went to pick up our pieces, the woman at the front desk barely looked up from her phone and pointed to the back for us to look for our pieces. Even on our way out she could not be bothered to look up and return pleasantries. But luckily, we did indeed receive all of our pieces. However, on both occasions, the pieces that we had asked to or told would be clear glazed were inconsistently glazed. Some pieces are glazed on the inside only and some on the outside only. I don't understand why this occurs but I'm very disappointed. A piece I was most excited for is only half glazed. Overall, this was a surprisingly frustrating experience. I feel a bit more organization and communication could have easily resolved any of these issues. Prior to my second experience, I had considered taking a 6 week class on the wheel but sadly after this horrible experience, I will not be returning to Morean Clay Center for...
Read moreI have only been here a few times for events that they hold and have always enjoyed coming. Browsing the artists' work is really fun and most of the artists are very nice and explain their process and how some of their pottery is made.
I've purchased some great things here! Cool looking mugs, planters, plates. Love how unique each piece is. Almost everything inside the building is for sale, and most of it is decently priced.
They have rotating art exhibits right when you enter to the right. Really cool pieces to look at. There was also a unique spoon exhibit towards the center of the building the last time I was there. It's like going to a museum for free lol. You just wander the aisles and look at the beautiful clay work.
We usually end up spending about 1-2 hours here. And plan to come back at least once a month as long as they keep holding...
Read moreI made an appointment to view this venue as a potential location for my wedding. Ryan texted me 8 minutes before the appointment was supposed to begin with instructions for when I arrive. When we arrived everything was locked up and no one was available to show the site. I texted Ryan and he said he had already left because I didn’t respond to his text. My appointment time was scheduled for 10:30-11:00 and it was 10:33. Very unprofessional in my opinion as I had multiple people with me and we all coordinated and drove 45 minutes from Palm Harbor to view this site. From what we could see the event space was nice but had the views from the windows of the Highway. Not really my “dream venue” or the type of people I’d want to work with when planning an event like my wedding. I’ll...
