The food is generally consistent, pretty high quality ingredients, and open on Sundays. However the restaurant itself is absolutely disgusting, chairs and tables (and all surfaces) are dirty, sticky and unsanitized. The dirty tanks of live crabs and the bathrooms that stunk as if not cleaned in months show a top-to-bottom lack of management and basic health department code adherence. The entire facility reeks of dirty, greasy carpet. But what really deserves one star is the service and experience, the menu is confusing, dishes we thought we were ordering aren't consistent with other Chinese cuisine standards and the servers didn't have basic English skills enough to describe. The night we went there was an unruly wedding occurring in the dining room, and the drunken party were continuously screaming and cheering... between smoke breaks where crowds of men would come and go continuously and bring in cigarette and burnt lung smell as they came and went, like herds through the dining room. The restaurant should never have been open to public and closed for an event. But lack of understanding of basic health standards and cleanliness, poor service and experience, and a total lack of managing any of this contributed to a consistently awful pattern. We won't be back soon, and not even the glaring lights could blind someone with the lowest standards from seeing how bad this...
Read moreVisited for a dim sum lunch to celebrate a friend's birthday this past weekend. I really enjoyed most of the food I had, but felt like I was just guessing on what everything was, which was a problem because I don't eat seafood and nothing was explained at all, I guess it might be tough to go over every item with every table, but a quick run through shouldn't take too much time. I know I wasn't the only one in the group that had this problem. I don't know if it was because of the size of the group or what, but I do plan to visit again with a smaller group so there's a better chance I'll be able to find out what things are. Service was good otherwise, water was kept filled and empty plates were removed promptly, though maybe the carts could have been brought by a bit more often, trying to ask for more of something specific when you don't know what it was didn't really work. Hoping my next experience with fewer people will work out better.
Update: Took my husband and a friend and there was a definite improvement in communication about what each item was. I still struggled to keep things straight because there was so much variety at once, but that's on me. Also tried a few more items this time that I missed previously, some weren't to my taste, but others were amazing. One of the best things about the dim sum is being able to get exactly what you like on...
Read moreThis is my closest Chinese restaurant to me, and I’m happy they are nearby! I’m new to town and so far I’ve been very satisfied. First, I want to preface this that I’m just an American dude that likes good Chinese food, but probably ignorant of authentic flavors to some capacity so take this review with a grain of salt.
They have some authentic dishes here! And dim sum! They also have your American Chinese dishes here.
The food is good. They capture the authentic flavors up and down their dishes. They do the wok hei flavor well. I personally believe their sauces can be a little bit more robust and deep, but I think this is personal preference. One criticism is that I think they can improve their velveting of their beef. It was tender enough but I’ve had more tender, and I think it could be a little better, but this may be personal preference. I’ve tried some of their dim sum, and it’s good. I personally slightly prefer Hong Kong Tea House, but others prefer New Golden Dragon, so again probably personal preference here. Overall, way above average on the food and worth a stop. Yum! 4.5/5 for food.
Their service is great 5/5. They are very friendly and care about their customers (American and Chinese) 5/5. Their take out is done well. Atmosphere is great and feels traditional, especially the dim sum set up. Totally...
