I went to Sugarhouse Nail Company for well over a year. When I first started going the service was fairly decent. However, in the past 6-7 months the service had dramatically decreased and I felt like I was being treated so poorly. I tried to get my nails done by Hoc Do (the owner) every single time. I felt as though, he purposely made it incredibly difficult for me to get my nails done by him because he has favorite clients. I would schedule appointments with him 2 weeks in advance and try to be the first appointment in the morning but he constantly overbooked himself and then would ask me to change my appointment to a later time or he would just throw me with another nail tech. The most frustrating experience and what evidently caused me to change to a different nail salon happened a month or two ago. I made an appointment with Hoc Do 3 weeks in advance for the 10am time slot. I needed that time because I had a very busy schedule the particular day. I live 30 minutes away from Sugarhouse Nail Company but made it a point to show up early for my appointment because I know how busy the salon gets. I was about 5 minutes away from the salon when I received a phone call from Hoc Do just 10 minutes prior to my appointment time asking me to reschedule to 1-2 hours later. I kindly explained that I lived 30 minutes away and I was only 5 minutes out and it would be extremely inconvenient for me to reschedule. Hoc Do was incredibly rude on the phone and saying that he had another appointment at the 10am spot and he wouldn't be able to do my nails. I told him that I made this appointment 3 weeks ago and I was showing up early to my appointment. He told me that I needed to change my time because he had another appointment and made me feel as though it was my fault that he was double booked. He finally just said that he would call the other appointment and try to reschedule them and then hung up the phone. When I arrived to my appointment it was clear that he was very annoyed with me and was treating me very poorly because I wouldn't change appointment times. I have never been treated so poorly by a company in my life than I have at sugarhouse nails. They are constantly running so far behind and answering the phone while doing your nails so it takes them twice as long to get them done. Also if you ask for a certain design they will tell you they can't do it if they know they are running behind because it will take them longer to do the design. The service is so terrible and they treat you so poorly. The biggest mistake I made was continuing to go there for as long as a did. I finally changed salons and have never been happier with my decision. If you want good service and want to be treated with respect DO NOT go to...
Read moreCame here to get my nails done for my birthday since I got told about them by a friend. THE BIGGEST MISTAKE. I came to schedule in advance and not only were the employees extremely rude to me but when scheduling the person was working on someone and wasn't paying attention to either one of us. Seemed extremely displeased that I came a couple days early to make an appointment. The employee was extremely short with me and didn't thank or welcome me or help me at all throughout the process of scheduling. I even before beginning the scheduling process had asked him if he wanted me to come back a different time or to call in to schedule since he was working on someone but he insisted, after this mistreatment I should have known not to come back, but I decided to give them a chance since maybe it had been a bad day for him. When I came in for my scheduled appointment I was quickly sat down which was nice and the only positive thing that happened in my experience. However, I had questions about the acrylic prices and how each looked since it was my first time here and the man that was working on me was extremely rude and short and didn't help me with prices whatsoever and just kind of took over. He was extremely aggressive with how he twisted and pulled my arm and hand and with how he filed my nails. At one point and complained and he just looked at me and continued. At the end when he finished I complimented his work saying that they looked beautiful and he immediately replied with yeah they aren't that great, not my best work and pulled over one of his coworkers and pointed to my nails and they both started whispering to each other. This made me feel awful because if I'm paying for a service it should be done right. He promptly walked me over to the register and charged me. When he charged me I was taken back since I had read that it would be around $50 and I got charged around $75. I had asked him earlier to clarify prices to ensure I wouldn't be paying more than I was willing too. Then he asked me how much I wanted to tip. I didn't want to tip at all so this made me extremely uncomfortable that I had to tell him what I wanted to tip. I ended up leaving and then noticed that a couple of my nails were slanted awkwardly and although they were nice they weren't worth anywhere near $75 and I had seen them do much better ones. Not to mention one of the nails completely ruined one of my natural nails. I completely unsatisfied and disappointed with...
Read moreI've been going to this salon for years. They are more expensive than other salons but I liked the quality I appreciated the atmosphere, quality and proximity to work so I was okay paying more. Unfortunately my recent experience has ruined my views of this place.
I went and got a full set three days ago. Shortly after leaving salon I noticed that the nails on one hand were crooked and really thick. It looked like I had globs of glue on my fingernails. I tried to not focus on it because I hate seeming like I'm complaining but it was bugging me really bad so I caved in and called them. The lady I spoke to apologized, asked me who did my nails, and told me to come in and they would fix them free of charge. They also told me someone other then the person who originally did them would fix them. Seems fair right? Well my experience was not that smooth.
I get to the salon, they ask me whats wrong, I show them and tell them. They ask me who did it so I point the guy out. Older guy who sits in station 1. They put me back with the guy who originally did my nails. He has horrible attitude the whole time he fixes my nails. I show him where they are crooked and thick. He asks me how he should file them and then tells me if he thins them out and they break it's not his fault. I responded by telling him that I just want them to match the other hand. He's yanking my hand around, throwing the file down hard and having a complete attitude about the situation. The rudest experience I've ever had. The good news is that my nails on my right hand don't look like they have globs of glue on them any more. The bad news is I'm so disgusted by the behavior of this employee that I will never go back. Anybody got any good nail salon referrals near the...
