I have came to the majik theater before for a field trip in 2016, things were good the staff was ok just didn't have much interactions with them. This year I went for two different field trips and the people were rude and unwelcoming. First when we got our ticket the desk lady didn't really greet us she just said "did you already buy your ticket?" She said it in a ugly tone. Then continued to say you must wait out side till they seat all the kids. So we did and we were on the stairs. Then they came out once again saying we had to wait farther back from the stairs cuz they were still checking in kids. Witch I under stand that and wasn't really aggregated by but why couldn't they just say or have a designated waiting area. So we move and are waiting, then we saw that our school had already been seated and we went to check if we can go in yet and they said we could not be seated till ALL the schools were seated. So we waited again and that is that there were supossed to be 9 schools there that day. I'm it was just so inconvenient. So we finally got in saw the play and the play was almost over and another mom, her kinder child and I all had to use the restroom. So we went down to use the restroom and we asked the lady where it was. And they have one in the theater but she said oh you have to go out side and directed us to the park restroom. We looked at each other like What? How are you going to make someone use another restroom all the way outside when you have a restroom in your facility after all we are paying customer, and you didn't even want to let us use your restroom. Just rude. And that is that my friends kinder gardener had to use the restroom also and she still didn't care to just let us use there restroom. We had to go to the park restroom. I just don't think...
Read moreOver the years I have visited this kids theater more than I can remember. The actors are great and all the shows are very well loved by the kids and adults. I think the stage needs a little love but over all it's a great place for the kids to get exposed to theater arts and fun way to spend time with your kiddos. They have a variety of shows and also classics like Dr. Seuss Cat in the hat. Right outside the theater there is a kids park that the children will have lots of fun in. There are swings, climbing rope towers, ping pong tables, chess and checker tables, bean bag toss among other games. Theres a big area of floor water fountains the kids can get wet in and next to it a big sand pit with water table games. The restrooms are clean and well maintained with a total of about 5 stalls each.
After some fun you can walk to the tower of the Americas and enjoy the sculptures and man made water falls of the park. This is still the same park so it pays off to spend a day here considering you can easily have access to the River center Mall, shops and restaurants along the riverwalk which are a short walk from the park. Also in the same park you can visit the Texan Culture museum which also has special exhibits and events. Recently they had the Asian festival which I could not attend but am dying to go see, hopefully next year. The parking lot is very small by the theater but you can find free parking near by, at The Tower of the Americas parking or on the curbside. Curbside parking is about $2.75 for 8 hours. So if you plan well you can have fun all day and only pay $2.75 for parking. Parking is free on the...
Read moreI attended as a parent chaperone with a large group with several other schools. I immediately started questioning why adults would be forced to sit separately and not with the children. This would have defeated the purpose of having adult help. Finally, the staff agreed to have the adults sit with the children. While I thought the performers to the School House Rock were talented, funny and all around great, I noticed the kids, especially the boys couldn’t wait to get out. Not sure it’s a good past time for 6 yr olds full of energy. My greatest concern and why I will never take my own children back is because of their progressive agenda being snuck into kindergartners curriculum. They changed the “Noun” song to (you guessed it) “Pronouns” and emphasized that a SINGLE male performer was a “them.” Leave that to The Strip on Main Street but the fact that they are introducing this to Kindergarteners and sneaking in progressive ideas to children completely ruined the rest of the performance for me. They didn’t have the decency to include any type of disclaimer. I don’t have any issues with the queerness of the show until this came up. I will not support any organization that forces children to question their “gender identity” or invite this confusion on children. The 2 stars are because I thought the performers in general were...
